Title:  Production Manager (Finishing Department)

Provides leadership to the Production team who are responsible to glue over 2 mm cartons per day.  Is a member of the Site Leadership Team and reports to the Plant Manager. Establishes goals and expectations to meet the objectives of the organization.  The Production Manager, in conjunction with the team, is responsible for safety, quality, productivity, equipment condition, housekeeping, and financial results.

  • Sets expectations with the team members to exceed both non-financial and financial goals.
  • Works with all employees to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Encourages and leads department to work in a safe manner and to seek improvement in work practices for their benefit. Develops and implements safety procedures and policies with the HSE Manager in achieving departmental and plant safety goals.
  • Understands the Voice of the Customer requirements and sets high expectations regarding quality standards and holds the team members accountable.
  • Responsible for exceeding goals in labor, spending, throughput, and production variances.
  • Collaborates with the Scheduling team to ensure the most efficient production schedule is created.
  • Partners with the Maintenance Team to set priorities in the gluing department to ensure the work orders and PM’s are completed.
  • Develops and hold team members accountable through coaching and progressive discipline in a union environment.
  • Works effectively with other department managers to resolve issues and coordinate efforts to achieve stated goals.
  • Provides leadership in full support of GPI’s Mission, Vision and Core Values (Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork).
  • Directly involved in responsibilities/actions related to Food Safety Programs.
  • Ability and responsibility to stop any activities that are unsafe and not meet the Seven Safety Absolutes.
  • Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting food safety requirements.
  • Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting customer quality requirements.
  • Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures including product safety, GMP’, and sanitation policies and procedures.

Required Skills

  • The Manager must be a leader with exceptional communication skills, good organizational skills, and the ability to motivate employees to perform at high levels.
  • Must be quality conscious and customer focused.

Required Experience

  • The Manager shall have exceptional communication and organizational skills and the ability to encourage and motivate employees to perform at a high level.
  • A four-year degree is required.
  • Experience in manufacturing is required.
  • Experience in the folding carton industry is optional.
