Performs basic electrical/mechanical troubleshooting installations and repairs. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and facilities as assigned. These tasks are done to insure that equipment and buildings are maintained to a high level of dependability.

 Daily supervision is required to assure that specific job assignments are completed in a safe and timely fashion. To insure that work performed is a present skill level and abilities are present to advance to a higher craft level in the future.

  1. Must be supportive and involved in GPI efforts for LEAN, 5’s, Six Sigma and other Continuous Improvement programs and processes.
  2. Performs all other duties as assigned.
  3. Strives to clearly understand customer requirements and delivers results to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  4. Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting food safety requirements.
  5. Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting customer quality requirements. Works in a safe manner and assures co-workers work in a safe manner. Reports safety hazards immediately to appropriate individual. Continues to expand safety awareness by participating in annual safety training programs.
  6. Performs basic electrical/mechanical preventive maintenance to assure minimum machine downtime.
  7. Performs electrical/mechanical component replacement, assuring compliance with work order instructions.
  8. Resolves electrical/mechanical emergency breakdowns on equipment to minimize downtime.
  9. Performs electrical/mechanical installations as directed.
  10. Maintains adequate records of work performed on equipment and corrective action taken.
  11. Displays good work habits that will set good examples for co-workers. Continually monitors and maintains work areas to keep them clean and well organized.
  12. Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs)/Sanitation policies and procedures.  Employee must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of AIB/5’s and other company standards.
  13. Must be supportive of GPI’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values (Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork).

Required Skills


  • A high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 18 months technical training in industrial electricity/electronics and/or mechanical. This training must total one thousand four hundred and forty (1,440) or more hours of classroom instruction in the specified     area, or three years on the job experience as an electrician/electronics tech. or mechanic/machinist, or other comparable job. (Experience is credited toward meeting the educational requirements at the rate of four (4) hours on the job being equivalent to one (1) hour of classroom instruction).
  • Specialized in voltmeters, ammeters, and ohmmeters.
  • Physical/Mental Requirements
  •  May require overtime, weekend and holiday work.
  • Subject to call-ins at any time of day or night.
  • Working environment may be noisy, odorous, hot, cold, or otherwise uncomfortable. Some jobs involve  hazardous materials, gas pressures, or high voltage and may require heavy lifting.
