Purpose:
The purpose of the Material Coordinator role is to provide prompt, professional responses for requests for stores item issues. The Material Coordinator has the responsiblity for generating requistions, purchasing, and cost reduction initiatives on storeroom spends. This role ensures that adequate inventory of repair parts and supply items is avaliable in the storeroom by analyzing the requirements of the vaiours production and support items.
Job Functions:
- Maintains accurate receiving and issue documentation and resolves discrepancies by interfacing with accounts payable and vendors as required.
- Regularly reviews stores item inventory records for accuracy of costs, nomenclature, minimum/maximum data, lead times, usage, duplications, obsolescence, and pertinent supplier data. Continually maximizes effective use of stores physical space.
- Initiates routine periodic cycle counts and reconciles physical count/system count discrepancies in Stores.
- Enters receiving, issuing, and miscellaneous type transactions into the Computerized Inventory Management System.
- Regularly reviews ordering requirements, initiates purchase requisitions for management approval, converts requisitions to Purchase Orders and places orders thru SAP or Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) Purchasing Systems.
- Determines, based on past usage and input from the various teams served, what new/old items will be stocked, the quantity of the item to be stocked, the reorder point and the quantity to be reordered.
- Generates reports based on data accumulated through SAP.
- Completes Stores physical inventories as needed.
- Assists in the development of operating guidelines, procedures, and forms necessary to the efficient operations of the storeroom.
- Directs and assists in the recording of work orders, tracking of preventive maintenance records, and tracking of parts for outstanding equipment needs and work orders.
- Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs)/Sanitation policies and procedures. Employee must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of SQF/5S and other company standards.
- Must be supportive of GPI’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values (Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork).
- Must be supportive and involved in GPI efforts for LEAN, 5’s, Six Sigma and other Continuous Improvement programs and processes.
- Performs all other duties as assigned. Strives to clearly understand customer requirements and delivers results to meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting food safety requirements.

Education/Experience:
- Microsoft Office proficiency is required
- A minimum of 3 years of previous experience in purchasing or an associate’s degree is preferred
- Strong administrative, analytical, and organizational skills
- Photocopier experience preferred
- SAP Experience is preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and self-motivation required
- Medium Work - involves exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently
or an amount greater than negligible and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
Pay Range: $42,210.00 - $52,710.00
