MISSION / SUMMARY:
The Stock Prep Process Lead is responsible for direct supervision of Stock Prep production and Waste Water Treatment Plant. This supervision includes hourly employees on a rotating shift, ensuring safety and production goals. The Stock Prep Process Lead will oversee training initiatives, lead troubleshooting efforts and seeing the results through to problem solving. The Stock Prep Process Lead acts as a bridge between management and frontline employees, ensuring company goals are met while fostering a positive and productive work environment.
JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.
- Provides leadership and supervision to production work teams and serves as the link to plant management for the team. Facilitates team meetings, intervenes as necessary to keep the team’s goals and results consistent with company direction, and works with the team members to develop their full potential. The production supervisor, in conjunction with the team, is responsible for product quality, equipment condition, team member safety, department housekeeping, and LEAN/5S.
- Supervises and facilitates the day-to-day shift activities of team. Utilizes knowledge and experience, providing training to team members. Responsible for their individual performance. Oversees scheduling, material handling issues and maintenance, as well as resolving production problems. Helps team achieve goals and has responsibility for personnel issues, including required discipline.
- Works with employees to maintain a safe work environment. Encourages and leads team members to work in a safe manner and to seek improvement in work practices for their benefit. Develops and implements safety procedures and supports Health, Safety & Environmental Manager in achieving departmental and plant safety goals.
- Ensures that product quality, production efficiencies, and overall productivity meet or exceeds established standards, and is directly accountable for expenditures exceeding budgeted levels.
- Strives to be technically proficient on the machinery in the department.
- Must be supportive of GPI’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values (Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork).
- Must be supportive and involved in GPI efforts for LEAN, 5’s, Six Sigma and other Continuous Improvement programs and processes.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Strives to clearly understand customer requirements and delivers results to meet or exceed customer expectations.
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
- Your prior experiences must demonstrate initiative, intellectual curiosity, strong problem-solving skills, success managing multiple priorities, an affinity for working in a manufacturing operations environment, and working well in a team under deadline pressure. Prior experience may include internships, co-op assignments, summer jobs, and volunteer work, leadership roles in student or college-affiliated organizations, full-time or part-time positions. Work experience related to field of study is desirable.
- 3+ years of Engineering experience
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Pulp and Paper Science, Packaging, Printing, Electrical, Mechanical or related degree
- *Advanced Degree considered but not required
