MISSION / SUMMARY:

The Kalamazoo Board Mill is looking for an experienced, accomplished, self-motivated Electrical Engineer to maintain and support all electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems across the mill. The ideal candidate is an inventive problem solver that is capable of working through technical challenges and employing pragmatic solutions. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a team that provides integrated services to meet our production goal of achieving 95% machine availability.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support electricians in the installation and troubleshooting of electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems e.g.
    • motor control circuits
    • hydraulic pumps, valves and cylinders
    • pneumatic compressors, valves and cylinders
    • electrical distribution equipment (13.8kv, 4160v, 480v, 120v)
    • instrumentation (pressure, flow, temperature, consistency, freeness, control valves)
  • Provide support for equipment reliability efforts. Knowledge of Six Sigma, Kepner-Tregoe, or root cause analysis tools a plus
  • Provide support and training to hourly electricians
  • Maintain documentation of electrical drawings, vendor documentation, troubleshooting tools

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 10 years’ electrical engineering experience
  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering required
  • Working knowledge of ABB VFD’s, Allen Bradley PLC’s, DeltaV, HART instrumentation a plus
  • Strong experience in troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Experienced in the use of PLC’s for troubleshooting, RSLogix 5000, device net, flex I/O
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of maintenance management systems, with working knowledge of SAP a plus

JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Ensures that proper safety practices are followed.
  • Lead the team that drives reliability best practices
  • Acting as expert knowledge in electrical and controls servicing
  • Generates cost estimates for work orders.
  • Acting as a liaison between internal customers, suppliers and contractors
  • Responsible to communicate with operations for efficient preventive maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Coordinates and manages vendors/contractors.
  • Capable of improving equipment and process reliability
  • Capable of working with a highly motivated team whose goal is excellence
  • Ensure efficient coordination of maintenance work
  • Available to facilitate repairs during unpredicted breakdowns.
  • Covers on-call and weekend duty rotation

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • Skilled in utilization of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), preferably SAP.
  • Multi-tasking skills with the ability to meet deadlines on a continuous basis.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Project, Excel and Word..
  • Strong team player and communicator

 EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

    • 7-10 year’s maintenance experience in pulp/paper mill preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

 

 SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

  • General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
  • Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours.
  • Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
  • Use of ladders and stairs in the mill environment.
