Title:  Reliability Engineering Manager

Position Purpose

The Manager, Reliability Engineer is responsible for leading the Reliability Engineering process, developing, implementing and sustaining reliability plans and programs, across the Kalamazoo Carton division, to reduce unscheduled equipment downtime and improve overall process reliability. This position is also responsible driving business-focused continuous improvement plans and leading key plant reliability programs.

Job Functions:

  • Assist in the development, implementation, improvement, and management of new and existing equipment predictive and preventive maintenance programs within the facility.
  • Driven utilization of RCFE (Root Cause Failure Elimination) process to identify root cause and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Assist with the management and tracking of Capital projects.
  • Provide critical leadership for the SAP improvements and programs.
  • Implement and manage a storeroom improvement initiative for the business unit.
  • Develop high level understanding of the entire reliability program to allow collaboration as a key strategic reliability development partner.
  • Analyze downtime to identify chronic/sporadic failures and lead reliability improvement efforts.
  • Troubleshoot chronic issues and develop action plans to minimize impact on equipment availability.
  • Develop, implement and sustain reliability best practices to reduce unscheduled maintenance downtime and costs.
  • Assist in development and utilization of key reliability metrics to consistently measure performance.
  • Provide long-range planning for facility and equipment needs, including capital and major repairs.
  • Work within facility to action and improve the continuous improvement Project Pool.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Document maintenance and management of machinery and software.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

Job Requirements:

  • Strong experience in Reliability Engineering, root cause and failure analysis (FMEA).
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of direct RCM management responsibility with experience supervising both hourly and salaried technical resources.
  • 10 Years of engineering and maintenance experience.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and application of RCM, planning and scheduling best practices. 

Education/Job Knowledge:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical preferred, or equivalent relevant work experience preferably Folding Carton Industry related.
  • Experience as Six Sigma Black-belt or Continuous Improvement/LEAN experience preferred.

Specific Skills:

  • Strong communication skills, leadership skills-relationship building, and group facilitation skills.
