The Bagger Utility position will maintain auto-bagger efficiency by performing film changes and troubleshooting as needed. In addition, perform and complete other work as assigned by the on-shift Bagger Maintainer or Bagger Utility Tech Lead, troubleshoot case sealers and case erectors as well as complete weekly and monthly PM’s. Assist other bagger utility and cup packers as needed. All employees must follow all of Graphic Packaging International’s safety procedures and policies.

 

DESCRIPTION OF TASKS:

Troubleshoot Autobaggers, Case Erectors and Case Sealers: Evaluate the problem. Assess issue to see if it can be fixed by bagger utility or if maintenance needs to be called.  If maintenance is called, remain at the bagger to provide assistance. Prioritize calls from quick to more time-consuming fixes.  Once adjustments are made, remain at the bagger or case sealer to ensure issue is resolved and assist in running excess cups through or loading cases back onto conveyor.

Film Changes: Monitor film level on roll to stay aware of upcoming needed roll changes. Remove the empty film roll core and use the lift to load the new film roll onto the bagger. Check the film size and set the guide bar to ensure the proper film width for new running cup sizes. Thread the film through the feeders. Run the cups that have been produced while the film change occurs, through the bag seal area to sleeve the rolls. Ensure bags are sealing. Stage film roll for next roll change.

Complete PMs:

  • Weekly: Clean all lane towers, wipe and clean each lane rail, wipe down front of bagger and fix any issues found (EX: air leaks, broken/missing screws and/or air cylinders). Blow out area
  • Monthly: In addition to completing weekly PM, lube film feed chain, film cart chain and infeed belt chain.  Blow out area. and wipe down tables.
  • Monthly Guard Audits on baggers

Help Un-Jam Cup Tubing: Use a ladder to reach the cup tubing and remove cups/bowls that are causing jam.

Housekeeping

Use a rag to wipe down the towers, baggers and tables. Once during the last hour of shift, use the air hose to blow dust towards the aisle. Use broom to sweep the aisle. Clean film area of pallets and excess material.  Ensure case sealer area is clean before leaving the shift.

Assist Others: Fill in for other Auto Bagger Utilities as needed. Assist packers and boxers with troubleshooting, feeding cups through, picking cups, numbering/labeling boxes, pulling spec sheets, giving breaks, preparing machines for startup and assisting shift managers as needed.

Additional Job Duties: Certify packers in IES/ZES on baggers, shredders and case sealers, ensure padlocks located on baggers have tags and keys, change tape on case sealers and enter new products into the HMI for the case sealers.

Responsible for assuring production of products consistent with established food safety, sanitation and quality standards.

 

Other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Candidates should supply a resume.
  • Prior cup packing experience (preferred but not required)
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot (highly preferred)
  • Ability to follow production schedules and multitask
  • Ability to safely lift approx. 20lbs and stand for long periods is required
  • Ability to perform job functions in a changing and constantly evolving work environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to routinely demonstrate a sense of urgency, a positive attitude, and be a team player.
