WORK SCHEDULE: Night Shift 7:00 P.M. – 7:00 A.M. (either C or D shift)

Must be willing and able to work nights and weekends

 

Starting at $21.10 $1/hour added for night shift differential!

 

The Flexographic Printing Press Operator will setup prints on presses by inspecting all setups and comparing/verifying the print color quality.  This employee will monitor the functions of the press and troubleshoot as necessary to ensure the production of high quality prints.  Additionally, they will direct and guide Assistant Press Operators as needed.  They understand and align business operations and the Printing Department while executing their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Follow production schedule to prepare print jobs according to production schedule. Duties include but are not limited to adjusting register nip pressure to specified close tolerance, setting up slitter blades, loading plate cylinders, applying and changing ink as needed, visually inspect the anilox rollers and blade system, checking print colors using the spectrophotometer and using the print template to compare and verify prints.
  • Monitor the press, color quality, and the viscosity and PH level of the ink; make adjusts as needed.
  • Troubleshoot the press and determine corrective action(s.) Possible defects could include backed out print, ink pump starving, off colors, off registration, and general print quality defects.
  • Unload paper using hydraulic lift.
  • Serve as liaison to the Assistant Press Operators; provide guidance and direction as needed.
  • Complete assigned paperwork (including Job Setup Form and Production Report Form.)
  • Move between presses as assigned.
  • Responsible for assuring production of products consistent with established food safety, sanitation and quality standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS:

  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Previous Off-Line Printing Press experience preferred.
  • Able to analyze production schedules and determine the most efficient to achieve goal.
  • Able to work in a fast paced and multi-task environment.
  • Attention to detail and organization; well-developed communication skills and able to maintain a positive team environment.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.

 

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:

  • The Press Operator schedule is 12-hour shifts on alternate days with rotating weekends off.  However, employees must have the ability to work alternate schedules and overtime that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
  • Must be willing and able to work overtime.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sitting or standing, depending on changing job assignment, for extended periods.
  • Awkward and/or repetitive movements.
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Push/pull pallet jack with up to 700 lb. load.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment.
  • Work in areas of fluctuating temperature.
