JOB SUMMARY: The Lid Operator will monitor all Lid Line machines and inspect lids for defects per department and production schedules. They will perform basic troubleshooting and repairs to machines while ensuring that material levels and lubricant containers remain full.  They understand and align business operations and Lid Department as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Regularly inspect machine operation, lubrication levels, and product for defects.  Ensure blending system runs at specified percentages and equipment runs at specified speeds; troubleshoot vacuum system. Work with Warehouse to ensure materials are delivered per production schedule; transport materials from designated drop zones to machines.
  • Perform mechanical repairs on Lid equipment as needed; document downtime for repairs. Notify Maintenance as required and work with Maintenance during tooling changes and preventative maintenance (PMs.)
  • Fill in for Packers as needed, and provide break support for Packers.
  • Keep work area clean, organized and free of debris. Grind scrap and recase product as needed; complete quality holds.
  • Complete quality reports and monitor lid quality, weight and fit per department guidelines; run lid-specific tests as required.
  • Make, label and number boxes; anticipate box needs by monitoring production schedule.
  • Perform weekly cleaning duties.
  • Complete all required paperwork.
  • Complete Lid Line production report, including citing any discrepancies that occur during shift.

 

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Schedules are up to 12-hour shifts on alternate days with rotating weekends off.  However, employees must have the ability to work alternate schedules and overtime that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sitting or standing, depending on changing job assignment, for extended periods.
  • Awkward and/or repetitive movements.
  • Lifting up to 35 lbs.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment.
  • Work in areas of fluctuating temperature.
