The Printing Department Manager is responsible for safety, quality, productivity, and development of people and systems in the Printing, Blanking, and Slitting operations at the plant. Leadership and guidance of 8 direct reports, working with approx. 3 Presses, 1 Zerand, 18 Blankers, 1 Webco slitter, 5 Lid lines, and 2 Folding Carton lines to achieve performance and development goals.  This position leads all aspects of our Printing and Blanking department as well as directing the Lids and Folding Carton Department Manager.  They understand and align business operations and Printing as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Assures production requirements are met within standards and goals.
  • Controls all manufacturing variances through closely reviewing and communicating daily financial and cost data from Accounting with other department managers.
  • Responsible for total outgoing product quality and operating performance (waste and efficiency) for the Printing department.
  • Coordinate with Production Department and Customer Service to assure proper specifications and efficient scheduling of all orders to best serve the needs of our customers.
  • Supervise daily preplanning of all manufacturing orders to insure maximum quality and efficiency.
  • Assures that company policies are applied accurately and consistently within the manufacturing function.
  • Responsible for planning and directing supervision, indirect labor control and training of Shift Managers.
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • 5-8 years’ experience in converting and management experience preferred.
  • Must have 2-5 years supervisory experience.
  • Must have working knowledge of printing processes (flexography preferred), color measurement and management, prepress.
  • Training in Six-Sigma/Lean/Work Systems is preferred.



  • Four-year degree preferred or;
  • Compensatory closely related work experience required in lieu of degree.


  • Exceptional communication skills and organizational skills to aid in directing the production floor.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to work effectively with employees, managers, sales/customers, and vendors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).



  • General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
  • Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.


  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours.
  • Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
