Under general guidance, plans, directs, and manages the Maintenance and Engineering departments to help the plant achieve operating goals and objectives consistent with Plant and Division objectives (safety, quality, productivity, etc.).

The Maintenance Department has approx. 80 employees total and the Maintenance Manager has 3 of those employees as well as 2 engineers under his/her direct supervision. They understand and align business operations and Plant Maintenance/Reliability as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.

  • Meet safety goals by following defined safety procedures, encouraging involvement, following up on safety concerns, and modeling proper safe behaviors.
  • Meet productivity metrics by establishing clear goals, providing requisite resources to direct reports, ensuring proper equipment care/maintenance, and engaging the workforce.
  • Provide quality leadership on all shifts. This includes listening and responding to employee issues, taking decisive actions, recognizing excellent performance, and holding employees accountable for undesirable behaviors.
  • Effectively communicate both up and down the organization on key issues (e.g. department meetings, performance/1-on-1’s, overtime plans, monthly business results, etc.)
  • Direct availability and allocation of materials, supplies, and finished products.
  • Collaborate with and support other departments as necessary to meet customer requirements and ensure product safety.
  • Direct team activities, establishing task priorities, scheduling and tracking work assignments, providing guidance, and ensuring the availability of resources.
  • Report all departmental project plans, progress, and results.
  • Lead and develop all maintenance team members including but not limited to: production, project, reliability, PM, and electrical.
  • Proactively drive a culture that prioritizes and improves in safety, quality, engagement, cost, continuous improvement, and productivity.
  • Guide efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls, and safety/security systems
  • Defines, designs, develops, monitors and refines the preventive/predictive maintenance programs
  • Coordinates these efforts with operations, maintenance team and Management to ensure thorough understanding, approval, and endorsement by all parties.
  • Ensure that preventive/predictive services and inspections are performed when due and that resultant corrective work returns the equipment to the maximum state of readiness and is performed in a timely fashion.
  • Work with Maintenance, engineering and Management teams to design systems to ensure the maintainability of new and modified equipment
  • Track and evaluate numerous Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and Maintenance performance data, identify trends, and recommend courses of action to address needs.
  • Use SAP and production databases to determine effective maintenance schedules and predictive parts replacement that will improve reliability.
  • Influences the selection of materials, equipment, and spare parts
  • Maintains reliability project records to ensure they are completed on time and at or under budget
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • 5 years Manufacturing experience
  • 3 years relevant Leadership experience



  • Four-year degree (Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related technology) preferred or;
  • Compensatory closely related work experience required in lieu of degree.



  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead a team
  • Must be able to apply technical knowledge, analytical and critical thinking skills to develop preventive/predictive programs
  • Must be able to manage time effectively while coordinating preventive/predictive Maintenance and projects
  • Problem solving ability (TCC/Trouble Cause Correction)
  • Process Improvement Knowledge (Lean, Six Sigma, 5S or other discipline)



  • General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
  • Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.



  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours.

  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
