OPPORTUNITY: We are a Foodservice cup forming manufacturing operation seeking candidates to join our Kenton, Ohio team. We’re recruiting for multiple positions so be sure you review all of our job postings.  This job posting is for a Quality Line Inspector with a pay range of $16.25 to $19.60/hour plus shift differential and progressive pay increases. JOB SUMMARY: Ensure the production of quality prints by inspecting for print defects, cup leaks, and a variety of other errors. Prepare print changes and monitor the quality of in line prints. Monitor all print specs. Inform supervisor if out of date. Hold “suspect product” as necessary for retesting. In addition, perform and complete other work as assigned by shift manager or Group Leader. All employees must follow all Graphic Packaging safety procedures and policies.

WORK SCHEDULE: Night Shift 7:00 P.M. – 7:00 A.M. (either C or D shift)

Must be willing and able to work nights and weekends

 

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Compare spec sheet, laser and schedule, and verify they are aligned with currently running product.
  • Check cups for defects and print quality. Perform cup tear downs and quality tests (including liquid tests) per schedule. Visually inspect product for defects and hold production if defects are discovered. Test all possibly defective products and discover the beginning point of defective material; discard defective material.
  • Perform visual case checks to confirm the correct boxes are being used, correct cups are in boxes, and stack height is accurate. If defects are discovered, notify Packers and Operators; determine if product should be held.
  • Use laser machine to check rim width and cup diameters. If rim is out of spec, complete Rim Defect Notice and provide to Operator.
  • Call and cite which cups are defective, complete hold tag and send to clamp truck operator on robot; understand the hold tag procedure.
  • Complete requirements of Quality Assurance Testing Technician including auditing the leaker table area, completing pre-job paperwork and pulling product to collect data. Conduct a variety of tests in priority order and utilize Quality Testing Matrix. Communicate defective product to Operator and Inspector and document. Clean coffee pots, dump and clean scrap barrels, and compete 5s sheet. Be able to setup label printer, print labels, spec sheets and lasers. Understand the mispack process.
  • Record and confirm scheduled print changes and verify product stated as having been printed, has been. Ensure rolls are ready to be run in accordance with schedule. Ensure packers have proper labels in accordance with schedule.
  • Check print changes for pre-prints by matching spec sheets to printed blanks. Pull samples and visually inspect product and complete tear downs. If necessary, notify Operators to shut down machine, and give start up approval after issue is resolved.
  • Complete the Quality portion of the print changeover process. Verify that Operator, Boxer and Packer completed print changeover checklist (if not, shut machine down.) Return completed checklist to the Quality Lab.
  • Complete required paperwork, and understand how to read the production schedule, layout, blank cart tag and spec sheets. Receive line inspector’s form from previous shift and prepare form the for next shift.
  • Use computer to update the data dashboard and complete back-up hold process as needed. Complete the hold tag log entry form; utilize the Gold V2 (for printing off lasers), the Total Vu program, the lableview and QAD as required.
  • Must successfully complete Level 1 and Level 2 assessments including print changes, inspector and testing technician duties, and modified Cup Packer, Boxer and Bagger training
  • Attend shift team meetings
  • Test for leaks
  • Responsible for assuring production of products consistent with established food safety, sanitation and quality standards.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS:

  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Previous experience upholding quality standards highly preferred.

 

 SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:

  • The Quality Line Inspector schedule is 12-hour shifts on alternate days with rotating weekends off. However, employees must have the ability to work alternate schedules and overtime that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
  • Some Departments/Jobs may run a M-F 8-hour Shift Schedule.
  • Must be willing and able to work overtime.
