The Quality Control Manager coordinates quality and continuous improvement related activities at the plant in order to assure Foodservice quality policies and objectives. The role serves as a quality contact to outside sales and the lead contact to auditing firms. They have direct supervisor over approx. 4 salaried and 3 hourly employees as well as indirect supervision of approx. 35 hourly employees. This role manages the full Quality and C/I department and covers approx. 500K sq. ft. of production space and work with approx. 70 formers, 3 presses, and 3 lid lines and 2 gluers. They understand and align business operations and Quality Control as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, safety, cultural, financial and operational objectives.
JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.
- Assure conformance to customer requirements and multiple third-party certifications.
- Respond to customer quality related inquiries.
- Work to maintain a safe work environment and develops and implements safety procedures to aid in achieving plant and departmental safety goals.
- Facilitate and manage Kenton GPS program.
- Investigate potential future food packaging requirements and certifications.
- Provide expertise and Kenton-related knowledge in the Division Quality meeting to establish best practices and promote consistency in testing procedures and specification setting across all FSB plants.
- Establish and prioritize facility quality objectives through analysis of current capabilities, evolving customer expectations, and market demands.
- Establish and meet quality goals by ensuring systems are in place and functioning to establish, communicate, and enforce quality standards.
- Proactively identify and close gaps in the quality system through the modification or creation of policies and procedures.
- Coordinate the resolution of all facility quality issues by working with quality line inspectors, department managers, maintenance and engineering.
- Provide continuous improvement support and analysis to the Kenton plant on quality and production issues.
- Provide leadership directed at continuous improvement in safety, quality / customer satisfaction, and productivity.
- Achieve financial objectives by tracking expenditures; analyzing variances; initiate corrective actions.
- Monitor and track continuous improvement activities and savings.
- Escalate communication of quality issues to FSB Quality Manager for accounts serviced by other Foodservice plants to ensure a consistent and coordinated response to our customers.
- Coordinate the qualification and trial of materials, processes, and products.
- Other duties as assigned.
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years in operations (preferably in a production and/or quality function)
- 3+ years experience as a supervisor or manager preferred
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:
- Four-year degree preferred or;
- Compensatory closely related work experience required in lieu of degree.
SKILLS:
- Ability to use of process improvement techniques such as six sigma, lean tools, etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Skilled in analysis and presentation of data as well as decision making through the use of statistics
Pay Range: $108,750.00 - $145,000.00
