PRINTING FLOATER            NIGHT SHIFT

 

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for supporting the printing department by assisting pressroom personnel and keeping up pressroom needs. Takes daily direction from the press operator.

  

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Reviews production schedule to verify correct material needed.
  • Reads and understands work orders for the job.
  • Prepares (bends) plates for upcoming job and stages them.
  • Prepares coating plate and returns previous used plate.
  • Assists press crew during press wash up and MR.
  • Reads all UPC and 2 of 5 codes.
  • Relieves press crews for breaks and lunch.
  • Responsible for keeping work area clean, emptying trash, sweeping (vacuum floors under press) and maintaining a 5S status on both presses.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment being responsible for keeping all printing supplies staged (i.e., rags, wash up solution, MRC) and emptying the dirty rag buckets on a daily schedule.
  • Communicates to supervisor when the supplies are getting low.
  • Cross trains on duties of the 2nd press operator.
  • Assists with roller changes and performs basic press maintenance.
  • Knowledgeable of job hazards and lockout procedures, reports any unsafe conditions to supervisor immediately.
  • Complies with all company and department safety, quality, productivity, and security procedures, including usage of proper PPE at all times.
  • Ensures total quality of the job while in operation, performs quality checks and accurate documentation. 
  • May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned. 

 

Required Skills:

  • Ability to pass Isochromatic color vision test yearly.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and follow instructions.
  • Ability to operate a pallet jack and forklift to move material.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to frequently lift 25 pounds and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to regularly stand and use hands to fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Frequently required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must be able to work 12-hour shifts on alternate days, with rotating weekends off.
  • Must be flexible, able to work other shifts, overtime and weekends if needed.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED
  • Work experience in manufacturing environment preferred
