Shipping Coordinator Job Summary Below:

The Shipping Coordinator will operate electric powered industrial truck equipment with lifting devices such as forklifts and clamp trucks to lift, stack, or move product, equipment, or materials between loading, processing and storage areas in the warehouse.


Primary Responsibilities are, but not limited to the following:


  • Receives goods and verifies the quality and count of all items unloaded from trucks and trailers; checks against suppliers count and immediately reports discrepancies to carriers, supervisors, and purchasing officer per company policy.
  • Verifies and records all items loaded for shipments.
  • Carefully and accurately maintains shipping records for requested categories including goods returned, dunnage, and returnable pallets.
  • Examines contents and compares with records, such as manifests, invoices, bill of lading, or orders to verify accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipment
  • Notifies supervisor of major discrepancies, over-shipments, or substitutions.
  • Transports materials on shipping dock with a hand truck or other vehicle as needed.
  • Loads trucks using a forklift.
  • Moves levers, turns steering wheel, and presses pedals to drive truck and controls movement of lifting apparatus.
  • Stages loads for transport by stacking, arranging, and securing loads.
  • Unloads roll truck and completes trailer inspections from CPD CIDOC-47-391.
  • Unloads and stacks materials by raising and lowering lifting devices.
  • Supplies production with materials as needed.
  • Maintains timely organization of finished goods.

  • Tends and maintains baler room consistently – replacing wire, ensures bales are tied properly.
  • Cleans and sweeps baler room throughout entire shift as needed.
  • Loads scrap bales onto trailers per stack pattern guidelines and examines bales to ensure they are not contaminated.
  • Tends and replenishes pallet stretch wrap equipment
  • Inventories materials
  • Weighs materials or product and record weight and other data on tags, labels, or shipping paperwork
  • Performs routine maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment such as cleaning, lubricating, recharging or exchanging batteries, replacing liquified-gas tank, and fueling
  • Performs routine inspections of vehicles
  • Reads press schedule and sets up roll’s tock for press machines / arranges packaging materials.
  • Maintains roll stock for production based on manufacturing schedule.
  • Maintains organization and cleanliness of the roll warehouse.
  • Maintains cleanliness of outside dock / cyclone area.
  • Performs other clerical duties.
  • Assists other departments as needed.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to follow directions and work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to accurately sort, count, and verify items received.
  • Ability to change out propane tanks.
  • Ability to safely and efficiently operate material handling equipment (forklift & clamp truck).
  • Basic understanding of warehouse procedures.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of use with Microsoft Office Suite/inventory software to maintain records and input data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills.
  • Visual color discrimination, ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Good attendance

  • High School Diploma preferred, technical school education, or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of related shipping experience preferred.
  • Training in forklift and clamp truck safe operating procedures.
  • Experience working in a fast pace manufacturing environment.

  • Successfully passing a vision assessment


Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.


Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form.

    • Must be able to work a five-day work week with frequent overtime.
    • Flexibility to work all shifts as needed is required.
    • Must be able to work overtime as required.
    • Must be able to perform the job in the physical plant location.

    • The employee is frequently required to lift under 10 pounds and between 40-45 pounds.
    • Frequent/strenuous physical effort (lifting, moving heavy objects, etc.) required.
    • Must be able to push, pull, and carry up to 40 pounds.

    • Personal Protective Equipment is required. This includes; steel toe shoes, safety glasses, ear protections, and gloves.  Other PPE may be required for specific tasks.
