Title:  Die Cutting Operator

Die Cutting Operator:   The die cutter operator is required to perform manual and machine operator tasks related to the operations, set-up, and maintenance of the die cutter.  While operating machine, operator is responsible for running quality at or above target run speeds while minimizing waste and downtime.  The machine operator is the leader of the crew and oversees the activities of the operator assistants, and inspectors working on that machine.  The operator must obtain and review the job jacket for items, quantities, caliper and size of the board as well as any special instruction that is informational for running the order.  The pallet stacking specifications must also be reviewed to make sure that all the instructions are clear and concise prior to running the order.  The operator is responsible for ensuring that all make readies are put on as quickly as possible.  The operator inspects for product quality and ensures that the machine is in good running condition.  All employees must follow all safety procedures and policies.  The job functions include but are not limited to the following: 

Primary Responsibilities and Skills:

  • Make-ready, adjust and run job as efficiently as possible to meet safety, quality, and productivity standards.
  • Examine job jackets to determine quantity to be cut, stock specifications and special die cutting instructions
  • Examine cutting dies for visual defects and apply correcting solution to repair minor defects
  • Make necessary adjustments to ensure quality
  • Ensure information is communicated between shifts
  • Ensure Company Safety, Quality and Production standards are met
  • Perform proper and required maintenance as well as cleaning of Die Cutter
  • Maintenance duties include stooping under machinery, entering confined spaces and climbing ladders.
  • Occasional squatting and kneeling for cleaning and clearing jams



Manufacturing experience preferred

  • High School Diploma preferred, technical school education, or equivalent.
  • Heavy mechanical/operator level skills in a manufacturing environment.
  • Two years of related manufacturing focus experience in a converting facility or similar type preferred.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of mechanical and pneumatic components.
  • Trained knowledge in mechanical assembly standards, engineering standards, or other applicable procedures and parts flow.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. 



  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.



  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.



  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.



Company issued Fork Truck Operator’s license.




Frequent overtime is required.



  • Sitting, walking or standing, depending on changing job assignment, for extended periods.
  • Awkward and/or repetitive movements.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment.
  • Work in areas of fluctuating temperature.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts.  The employee is regularly exposed to dust, fumes, heat, cold, vibration, toxic conditions, and potential work hazards.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. 

Personal Protective Equipment (hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves, and mask) is required.  Other PPE may be required for specific tasks,
