With the support of HR Manager, Corporate and Division resources, the Human Resources Coordinator is a plant HR contact for support in staffing and recruiting, disciplining, policy and procedure implementation and compliance.  The HR Coordinator is responsible administering employee benefits and insuring proper documentation of training, attendance, disciplinary actions, and other required employee information.

Job Functions:

  • Participates as an active member of the HR Team and Plant Leadership Team.
  • Primary plant contact for HR issues and questions with employees concerning disciplinary process, morale issues, and policy and benefit issues. Assists HR Manager in effectively dealing with employee issues and concerns.  Ensures effective employee communication programs are in place.
  • Works in conjunction with HR team to administer local benefit plan. Communicates with employees and benefit contacts to ensure adequate coverage and resolution of benefit issues.
  • Records employee information such as personal data, compensation, benefits, attendance, performance reviews or evaluations, and termination date and reason.
  • Examines employee files to answer inquires and provides information to authorized persons.
  • Compiles data from personnel records and prepares reports.
  • Screen and refer qualified candidates to HR Manager for interview and testing for all hourly employees and works in conjunction with HR Manager for all salaried candidates.
  • Coordinates the recruitment process to include pre-bid database, screening, interviewing, selecting, and hiring candidates. Extend job offers and negotiate start dates, ensuring requisitions, offer letters and pre-employment screenings are complete. Disposition remaining candidates.
  • Leads HR department with onboarding new employees, new hire orientation and benefits administration.
  • Maintains employee records in accordance with all company policies. Ensure proper documentation of attendance, disciplinary actions, and training.
  • Works in conjunction with HR Team to prepare plant affirmative action plan in compliance with all federal and corporate guidelines.
  • Prepares reports for Worker’s Compensation claims as requested.
  • Leads HR Team with HR and Company sponsored employee programs, events and meetings.
  • Works with HR Team to manage leaves to include FMLA, STD, LTD and other protected leaves.
  • Serves as back up to the payroll coordinator for bi-weekly payroll processing and all HR payroll related reports (to include: attendance, overtime reports, LOA reports, month end reports, etc.)
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Serves as back-up to Human Resource Manager.
  • Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs)/Sanitation policies and procedures.  Employee must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of AIB/5’s and other company standards.
  • Must be supportive of GPI’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values (Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork).
  • Must be supportive and involved in GPI efforts for LEAN, 5S, Six Sigma, and other Continuous Improvement programs and processes.
  • Strives to clearly understand customer requirements and delivers results to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting food safety requirements.
  • Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting customer quality requirements.

Required Experience

  • Undergraduate degree or three to five years’ experience in Human Resources in preferred.  
  • Staffing and/or Recruiting experience is preferred. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and HRIS (preferably SAP) is required. 
  • This position requires strong tact and judgment.  Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and be capable of handling multiple tasks effectively. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, computer literacy, motivation, and process improvement skills are required.
