POSITION PURPOSE
Performs a variety of moderately complex troubleshooting duties involving electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. In addition, performs preventive and predictive maintenance on equipment, and completes required documentation of all tasks performed.
The incumbent is required to perform the job functions with minimal supervision. Policies, guidelines, and procedures are developed by the Department Manager.
JOB FUNCTIONS
- Works in a safe manner and assures co-workers work in a safe manner. Reports safety hazards immediately to appropriate individual. Continues to expand safety awareness by participating in annual safety training programs.
- Troubleshoots and repairs production and support equipment experiencing electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic problems.
- Performs electrical/mechanical component replacement, assuring compliance with work instructions.
- Performs preventive and predictive maintenance per issued checklists.
- Performs equipment installation tasks per work order instructions and plan specifications.
- Maintains adequate records of work performed on equipment and corrective action taken.
- Completes and submits proper forms for the tracking of items sent out for repair, items to be added to the stores system, and other forms as required to facilitate equipment maintenance.
- Provides training and guidance for team members less skilled in machine repair and service. In absence of a Technical Specialist may be required to temporarily fill in as lead person on a given shift.
- Displays good work habits that will set good examples for co-workers. Continually monitors and maintains work areas to keep them clean and well organized.
- Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs)/Sanitation policies and procedures. Employee must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of SQF/5S and other company standards.
- Must be supportive of GPI’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values (Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork).
- Must be supportive and involved in GPI efforts for LEAN, 5S, Six Sigma and other Continuous Improvement programs and processes.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Strives to clearly understand customer requirements and delivers results to meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting food safety requirements.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Also requires eighteen (18) months technical training in industrial electrically/electronics and/or mechanical. This training must total one thousand four hundred and forty (1,440) or more hours of classroom instruction in the specified area. On the job training will be considered in lieu of classroom instruction at the rate of four hours OJT being equivalent to one hour of classroom instruction.
- At least two (2) years on the job in this facility as a Craft III or five (5) years on the job experience as an electrician or mechanic in another facility. This requirement is in addition to any experience used to meet the educational requirement.
- Specialized knowledge in voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, oscilloscope, PLC Programmers, precision levels, dial indicators.
- Leadership experience prefered.
Physical/Mental Requirements
May require overtime, weekend and holiday work. Subject to call-ins at any time of day or night. Working environment may be noisy, odorous, hot, cold, or otherwise uncomfortable. Some jobs involve hazardous materials, gas pressures, or high voltage and may require heavy lifting.
