Title:  Plant Engineering Manager

Graphic Packaging in Lawrenceburg has a current opening for a Plant Engineering Manager.  The Plant Engineering Manager directs and controls the activities of the maintenance function to ensure that all production and support equipment is maintained at levels which are as efficient and reliable as possible. He/she ensures that the facility itself is maintained and is a safe work environment. 

Job Functions include:

  • Provide direct supervision, technical direction, administrative support, and leadership for the maintenance and engineering department
  • Ensures machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of the building does not deteriorate
  • Manages an effective PM and RCM programs by monitoring procedures, frequency of service, etc.
  • Coordinates energy management optimization activities
  • In Conjunction with the Maintenance Supervisor, ensures equipment PM is prioritized in such a way to minimize production losses, resulting from both scheduled and unscheduled downtime
  • Use other maintenance disciplines in the development and application of reliability engineering, root cause analysis and troubleshooting of equipment and processes
  • Consolidation of plant results with supporting explanations.
  • Interacts with outside contractors and spare parts suppliers.
  • Manage plant-wide maint. & capital, maximizing asset reliability, uptime, & cost effectiveness w/available resources
  • Assist EHS manager to ensure compliance with Federal, State and Local Safety, Security and Environmental regulations
    • Provide long-range planning for facility and equipment needs including capital and major repairs
    • Develops, implements, and oversees predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance programs
    • Coaches and develops training plans for all maintenance technicians and apprenticeship program
    • Supervises the Maintenance Supervisor, Storeroom, Project Engineer, IT Maint/Technician and Maintenance Planner
    • Shares an obligation to protect and strengthen Graphic Packaging International’s good reputation in our relationships with customers, employees, suppliers, competitors, investors, and governmental agencies, and to act consistently with our core values: Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork
    • Supervises and directs the maintenance function to ensure that plant and equipment continue to be efficient and reliable.
    • Minimizes unscheduled downtime by monitoring and resolving reoccurring issues
    • Provides technical assistance to the maintenance employees in troubleshooting and problem solving.
    • Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs)/Sanitation policies and procedures. Employee must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of SQF/5S and other company standards.
    • Must be supportive and involved in GPI efforts for LEAN, 5S, Six Sigma and other Continuous Improvement programs and processes.
    • Performs all other duties as assigned.
    • Strives to clearly understand customer requirements and delivers results to meet or exceed customer expectations.
    • Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting food safety requirements.
    • Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting customer quality requirements.

Required Skills

  • Leader with exceptional communication skills, good organization, and the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Previous environmental experience is a plus
  • Must be quality conscious and customer oriented
  • Prior field experience in electrical or mechanical maintenance of packaging printing and converting equipment or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred
  • Must be a leader with exceptional communication skills, good organization, and the ability to motivate people to perform at high levels

Required Experience

  •  Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field preferred
  • 5-10 years maintenance experience preferred including:
    • Computer Maintenance Management Systems (preferably SAP)
    • Planning and Scheduling
    • Preventative/Predictive/Precision Maintenance
    • Central Stores Management
    • Reliability Engineering
  • Proven track record of identifying opportunities and the ability to recommend and implement improvements
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite as well as internet research skills
  • Project Management
