JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Verifies job specifications such as size, color, and type of material such as paperboard and film and color of ink from job work order.
  2. Determines and requisition correct materials, chemicals, and supplies.
  3. Load, prep, and splice film rolls and/or paperboard rolls.
  4. Unloading of film and/or paperboard rolls.
  5. Install and remove doctor blades in accordance with all safety and quality policies and requirements.
  6. Adjusts controls to regulate volume of ink.
  7. Web a press correctly by following web path directions.
  8. Installs plate or cylinders, registers job, and produces proof sheet for approval.
  9. Runs proof sheets and checks first sheet against color proof for all colors printed to determine compliance with job specifications and print quality.
  10. Obtain proof sheet approval before printing job.
  11. Prints job maintaining optimum print quality and production speed, and completes required jobs in an efficient, safe, and cost-effective manner by maintaining proper adjustments of press controls and ink.
  12. Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.
  13. Maintains a current knowledge of new or improved press methods, materials, equipment, and supplies, and makes improvement recommendations.
  14. Restocks when supplies are getting low.
  15. Selects and maintains a file of approved press sheets of all jobs for future reference.
  16. Ensures proper workstation cleanliness and press maintenance. Periodically performs preventative maintenance and/or minor repairs as necessary.
  17. Assist in the training of press operators and helpers in setting up the press, installing trolleys and plates, adjusting ink quality by mixing for proper viscosity.
  18. Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs)/Sanitation policies and procedures.  Employee must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of SQF/5S and other company standards.
  19. Must be supportive of GPI’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values (Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork).
  20. Must be supportive and involved in GPI efforts for LEAN, 5’s, Six Sigma and other Continuous Improvement programs and processes.
  21. Performs all other duties as assigned.
  22. Strives to clearly understand customer requirements and delivers results to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  23. Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting food safety requirements.
  24. Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting customer quality requirements.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and follow instructions.
  • Ability to operate a pallet jack to move material.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to frequently lift 25 pounds and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to regularly stand and use hands to fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Frequently required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must be able to work 12-hour shifts.
  • Must be flexible; able to work other shifts, overtime and weekends when needed.
  • High school diploma/equivalent required
  • At least 6 months of experience with the same or similar equipment is preferred.
  • Frequently exposed to conditions involving noise, fumes, and hazardous chemicals.
