The Mechanical Project Engineer is responsible for support of the design, development, and implementation of new machinery and process solutions in support of launching new packaging concepts. The primary responsibilities of the Project Engineer are to bring new machinery and process solutions from initial concept to commercialization. Responsibilities also include further development of existing and new GPI packaging concepts with a focus on brining these concepts to a manufacturing conclusion.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 

    • Develops, designs, and provides engineering drawings in support of mechanical and process engineering aspects of the R&D packaging development process.
    • Coordinates and assists with the fabrication of parts, components, and assemblies of new packaging machinery and processes.
    • Supports the construction and commissioning of new equipment, including support of incubation manufacturing prior to full-scale production.
    • Successfully coordinates several projects simultaneously with focus on honoring customer commitments and project timelines.
    • Writes materials, manufacturing, and performance specifications for new packaging machines and processes.
    • Composes detailed presentations on the status of each project.
    • Occasionally meets with customers to provide engineering support for new packaging initiatives.


Required Skills

    • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical, Process, or Industrial Engineering required.
    • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment role.
    • Must be proficient with engineering software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.
    • Must be proficient with Microsoft office including MS Project.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude including hands-on experience constructing and fabricating specialized machines.
    • Experience with operating machine shop tools i.e., mills, lathes, etc. a plus.
