The R&D Technician will assist with the fabrication, installation, operation and maintenance of new machines and processes directly related to the launch of new business objectives, new manufacturing processes and qualification of new raw materials.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Assists with the fabrication, installation, maintenance of new packaging machines and processes and trains others on the installation and use of packaging converting equipment in support of launching new business initiatives for the Company.
  • Assists with operating new and prototype packaging machinery in support of small-scale incubation/pilot production during the launch of new packaging technologies and formats.
  • Takes instruction and guidance from R&D Engineers, Specialist and Managers in execution of the machinery and mechanical aspects of R&D projects and objectives.
  • Communicates regularly with outside parts/machine suppliers and GPI engineering consultants.
  • Assists with machine testing and trials to evaluate new raw materials and converting processes.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of one (1) years’ experience operating, fabricating, and maintaining manufacturing equipment used in the packaging converting industry to include printing presses, laminators, die-cutters/sheeter, folder/gluers and metallizers.
