JOB SUMMARY: We are looking for a talented and energetic Quality and Health & Safety Manager to help us to drive the daily operations of the local Quality Assurance, Process Improvement activities and Safety at the Lowell, MA facility. The primary mission is to guarantee that only the highest quality products are delivered to the customer and provide a safe work environment for every employee.



  • Daily supervision of all quality department-related activities.
  • Supervise site Continuous Improvement program.
  • Responsible for productivity, waste, and product quality improvement projects.
  • Disposition of all materials (raw, in-process, customer returns) on quality hold.
  • Manage customer returns and credits and lead corrective action process.
  • Communicate with customers and company management on complaints and project activity, including customer site visits and follow-up.
  • Ensure product specifications are accurate and enforced.
  • Trained and Certified in SQF 2000 and HACCP.
  • Trained or knowledge of SQF prerequisites including GMP, Food Defense, etc.
  • Responsible for the development, implementation, review, maintenance, communications of the SQF system.
  • Lead and coordinate the Annual plant review of Safe Quality Foods (SQF) system, internal audit /schedule, and Coordinate SQF third-party audits.
  • Responsible for coordination of SQF type Root Cause/ Corrective Actions activities.
  • Validation and Verification of SQF controls with determined frequency/schedule.
  • Establish and maintain Methods/criteria for monitoring, sampling, inspecting, testing, and analyzing raw materials, in-process, and finished goods.
  • Review and update training skills requirements for Safe Quality Foods.
  • This position has full responsibility for the development and maintenance of SQF related documents and records.
  • Responsible for the verification of SQF controls and meeting the standards of the SQF requirement.
  • Manages the facility's safety program to prevent injury through the involvement of management group, employee training, communication of goals, procedure/policy development.
  • Provide safety/health expertise to plant staff, including consulting with and providing guidance to the plant leadership team.



  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year College or University.
  • Quality assurance/continuous improvement and industrial safety experience with the majority in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance principles.
  • Six Sigma and LEAN training and experience preferred.
  • Statistical and other data analysis skills.
  • Good Communication and Interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Leadership skills with high integrity.


SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS - Schedules are up to 12-hour shifts Mondays – Fridays and 8-hour shifts on Saturdays. However, employees must have the ability to work alternate schedules and overtime that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.



  • Lifting up to 20 lbs. occasionally (11-33% of the time)
  • Requires use of both feet frequently
  • Requires use of both hands for simple grasping, firm grasping, fine manipulation and repetitive actions continuously
  • Requires right and left hand coordination
  • Ability to stand, climb, walk, kneel and crouch frequently (34-66% of the time)
  • Ability to bend, squat, reach above shoulder and at waist or lower, twist, stretch, push/pull with force up to 45 lbs., carry, grasp with force up to 90 lbs. and finger occasionally (1-33% of the time)
  • Ability to read, write, hear, see, speak and have agility on a continuous basis
  • Rarely laying on back to complete preventative and breakdown maintenance to perform mechanical and electrical services to ensure plant operations
  • Pushing (occasionally) horizontal at a self-selected height with a force of 35 lbs. indoors on a smooth and inclined surface to complete fabrication of requested items to perform mechanical and electrical services to ensure plant operations
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices
  • Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment
  • Work in areas of fluctuating temperature and loud noises
  • PPE required: Steel-toed/safety footwear, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Cut resistant Safety Gloves, Hair Net, Beard Net
