This sheet fed converting facility produces folding cartons in the consumer packaging industry for a variety of national established brands.

Provides leadership to the supervisory team, production work teams and is a member of the site leadership team reporting directly to the Plant Manager.  Facilitates department meetings, intervenes as necessary to keep the goals and results consistent with company direction, and works with the supervisory team members to develop their full potential.  The Printing Manager, in conjunction with the team, is responsible for safety, quality, productivity, equipment condition, and housekeeping.

Job Functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Manages and facilitates the long term goals of department. Utilizes knowledge and experience, providing training to supervision.  Responsible for their individual performance.  Oversees scheduling, material handling issues and maintenance, as well as resolving production problems.  Helps department achieve goals and has responsibility for personnel issues, including required discipline.
  • Provides a communication network between direct reports and upper management.
  • Works with all employees to maintain a safe work environment. Encourages and leads department to work in a safe manner and to seek improvement in work practices for their benefit.  Develops and implements safety procedures and partners with the Safety Manager in achieving departmental and plant safety goals.
  • Assures that the department maintains quality standards and uses SPC techniques for problem resolution through knowledge of product specifications and training of personnel.
  • Ensures that product quality, production efficiencies, and overall productivity meets or exceeds established standards, and is directly accountable for expenditures exceeding budgeted levels.
  • Strives to be technically proficient on the machinery in the department. Provides assistance to the team in problem resolution and assures that testing and product development is carried out in a professional manner.
  • Directly involved in responsibilities / actions related to Prerequisite and Food Safety Programs.
  • Works effectively with other department managers to resolve issues and coordinate efforts to achieve stated goals.
  • In the absence of Printing Manager, daily responsibilities will be transferred to Plant Manager or a Supervisor.
  • Follow all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods.
  • Report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures.
  • Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
  • Reporting of any customer complaints to persons responsible to enter into GPI’s Customer Complaint system for root cause analysis and appropriate corrective action taken.
  • Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
  • Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.

 

 

Required Skills

  • The Manager must be a leader with exceptional communication skills, good organization, and the ability to motivate people to perform at high levels.
  • Must be quality conscious and customer oriented.
  • Production experience in printing is required and continued education is considered a plus.

 

Required Experience

A four-year college degree and/or equipment-direct experience in the folding carton industry is required.  7-12 years of experience required.
