SUMMARY:  Safely operates machine that forms and glues flat cartons into finished cartons 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. 

 

  • Adjusts forming bars to accommodate size of box to be shaped 

  • Fills glue pots with adhesive and positions rollers to dispense glue onto paperboard 

  • Observes machine operation to detect malfunction 

  • Inspects cartons for flaws 

  • SAP reporting 

  • Make mechanical adjustments to machine 

  • Complete Daily Management boards as required including root cause and corrective action plans. 

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. 

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. 

REASONING ABILITY: 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.  The employee is also required to move heavy weights by using a pulling motion on a pallet jack. 

 

The employee is frequently required to lift or carry 10 to 25 pounds and occasionally required to lift or carry 26 to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance and color vision.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts.  The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
