Responsible for the movement of freight assigned within SAP and load control operation to ensure that both internal and external customer requirements are met and exceeded in the most cost effective manner.  Maximize efficiency and customer service through effective and verbal and written communication with carriers, customers and team members. Audits and processes all shipping and receiving documents for finished goods and raw materials with accuracy and an attention to detail.

Independent judgment and Analytical thinking is necessary.  This position directly reports to department manager.

 

Job Functions

  • Responsible for on-time pickup and delivery of product, while minimizing detention though up to date and accurate load planning.
  • Reviews the team’s adherence in monitoring of shipments for service failures and notifying appropriate personnel.
  • Collects data required for warehouse metrics, manages documentation of shipments including BOL’s and verifies accurate documentation standards through daily checks.
  • Load Plans shipments for all outbound shipments to external customers and GPI facilities, including completion of export documentation.
  • Coordinates the receipt of finished goods shuttled from GPI production facility.
  • Serves as the primary resource to provide transportation expertise and leadership though timely communication with production departments, customer service, third party warehouses, and transposition.
  • Performs problem-solving functions for internal/external customers and communicates resolution to appropriate personnel.
  • Performs system maintenance functions for external customers in the management of transportation within external customer’s computer portals.
  • Relieves inventory consumed at consignment warehouses and reconciles as necessary.
  • Manages the warehouse monitor and reconciles ages or missing pallets daily with the IPRs and third-party warehouses.
  • Participates in periodic carrier service reviews; measures and collects data and prepares performance reports, conducts cycle counts, and audits shipping documents to insure proper invoicing.
  • Work in a safe manner and assure co-workers work in a safe manner.
  • Responsible for compliance with all facility product safety (GMP’s)/Sanitation policies and procedures.  Employee must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of SQF/5’s and other company standards 
  • Manages all local delivery schedules, sets up all delivery times and communicates with carrier and warehouse daily
  • Responsible for managing the department schedules including scheduling overtime and vacations as well as completing weekly payroll approvals,
  • Coordinates all scrap metal, scrap pallet, and dumpster material removal as needed. This included contacting the vendors and ensuring materials are picked up timely and proper payment is received from vendor.
  • Reviews and completes all disposal approvals for finished and WIP inventory as needed in SAP and communicating the disposals with the warehouse to relieve inventory.
  • Maintaining pallet counts at third party warehouse including monitoring aged inventory and communicating aged issues with customer service.
  • Responsible for managing all receiving for the complex including all service invoices and incoming parts Pos. Maintaining workflow issues and reconciling any AP issues as needed.
  • Coordinates all subcontracting inbound and out bound loads using the portal and TMS to set up trucks and communicate needs for trucks and materials with production departments and outside vendors.
  • Track production of finished goods for the days scheduled trucks and communicate any delays with production and transportation timely. Manage the shipping team by providing needed timing and production information to ensure the needed materials are shuttling as needed.
  • Responsible for all freight claims issues including damage in transit, damaged rolls, and damage property by working with he affected departments and customers to gather all needed information and processing the claims in the EZ Claim system.

 

 

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum associates degree required; combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Experience and knowledge in transportation and warehousing principles and function is a plus
  • Ability to function in a team environment.
  • Ability to make independent and sound business judgment under pressure.
  • Must possess the following skills:

  • Must be able to work in a fast paced manufacturing environment
