Auto Shop Job Description



This is a position in the Mills Auto Shop requiring strong Auto repair and maintenance skills. This position is responsible for maintaining and servicing all vehicles within the facility in a safe and efficient manner while ensuring minimal downtime. This position will work closely with Operations and the Mechanical Maintenance Team to provide maximum facility support.



  • Preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair maintenance activities on heavy equipment and lift trucks.
  • Responsible for performing equipment inspections, lubrication of equipment, hydraulic systems, and utilizing vehicle computer technology to analyze and repair the equipment.
  • Responsible for a variety of mobile equipment including: Yale forklifts, Yale clamp trucks, Kawasaki Mules, John Deere tractors, Caterpillar wheel dozers, LK Auxiliary engines, Fire pump diesel engines, River generator diesel engine, dump trucks, etc.
  • Capability of working in a physically intense environment. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds. This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping, and climbing.

  • Ability to read and interrupt blueprints and schematics.
  • Computer literacy – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Good communication skills - verbal and written.
  • The ability to work independently and in a team environment by receiving and completing work orders; gathering tools and supplies to complete the work assigned.
  • Willing to update job knowledge thru participation in educational opportunities.
  • Willing to work overtime.



  • 3-5 years of industrial experience in forklift repair and heavy equipment repair.
  • Must be able to read/interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics and be proficient in the use of precision measuring tools, rigging, and possess functional welding ability.
  • Excellent teams’ skills
  • Understanding of installing, repairing and maintaining industrial equipment in paper mill or similar industries.



High school diploma or GED
