MISSION / SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler I plans and schedules work for their area(s) of responsibility. Will work independently on assigned projects or under the direction of senior level engineers in providing leadership to field supervision, inspection of field work, project management and office administrative duties will be required in support of the functional area of assignment.

 JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.

  • Ensures that proper safety practices are followed.
  • Assist in leading daily/weekly planning and scheduling meetings.
  • Participates in the initial screening/scoping process to prioritize work orders to be planned and scheduled.
  • Ensures the work notification has the correct functional location and work type.
  • Generates cost estimates for work orders.
  • Acting as a liaison between internal customers, suppliers and contractors
  • Responsible to communicate with operations for efficient preventive maintenance and routine job planning, work scheduling and execution to optimize equipment. 
  • Coordinates and manages vendors/contractors.
  • Maintains a minimum of two weeks backlog list of planned work ready for scheduling.
  • Updates and maintains criticality, BOMs, standard tasks, PM03s and spare parts for equipment in area of responsibility.
  • Assist in supervisory activities for the maintenance crew in their area or responsibility.
  • Assist in the development of daily/annual outages for their area of responsibility.

 


Required Skills

SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

  • General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
  • Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours.
  • Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
  • Use of ladders and stairs in the mill environment.

Required Experience

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • Skilled in utilization of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), preferably SAP.
  • Multi-tasking skills with the ability to meet deadlines on a continuous basis.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Project, Excel and Word.
  • Ability to estimate man-hours and costs for maintenance work.
  • Strong team player and communicator

 

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • 3-5 year’s maintenance experience in pulp/paper mill preferred.
  • 3-5 year’s maintenance planning experience preferred with knowledge of recognized maintenance planning practices.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
