MISSION / SUMMARY: The Supervisor is the first line leader for the Paper Department and works rotating shift. This position is key to shift operation and productivity, supervising the union hourly workforce assigned to the department. The successful candidate will understand and align business operations and Paper as he/she executes their role to exceed expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.

JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.

Directs the day-to-day activities of the shift.
Responsible for the resolution of shift issues.
Responsible for performance counseling of individuals for unacceptable performance relating to safety, attendance, training, quality, productivity and/or inappropriate behaviors to include disciplinary action if required.
Performs daily audits to ensure that safety, housekeeping, basic care rounds, and established job standards are followed.
Uses what he/she finds on audits and review of countermeasure sheets to upgrade standard work or install new systems to prevent problems from reoccurring.
Serves as liaison to communicate identified problems to support team as well as problem status feedback to the crews.
Supports mill and department goals in safety, environmental compliance, quality, cost, productivity and continuous improvement.
Accountable for overall shift performance in accordance to established key performance indicators (KPI’s) to include safety, environmental, housekeeping, quality, cull and production efficiency. Takes necessary actions to ensure goals are achieved in a team environment by leading or promoting problem solving and development of countermeasures with or by crew members.
Completes all shift accident investigations within 24-hour period. Ensures corrective action is taken to address issue.
Manages individual job assignments and crew member training plans with assistance from other department personnel.
Responsible for the daily management of the time/attendance system, tracking of attendance and issuing discipline.

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

0-2 years of supervisory experience
Self-starter with demonstrated ability to set expectations and motivate crewmembers toward meeting mill and department goals.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment.

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent work experience.

Required Skills: Skills include but not limited to the following.

Good interpersonal skills, able to influence people.
Good organization skills.
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Able to motivate people to perform at a higher level.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
SAP experience a plus.
The incumbent must provide strong leadership and teamwork to ensure safe and efficient operations

SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

General schedule is a rotating shift, which includes some weekends.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Sitting or standing for extended periods up to 8-hours.
Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.

Pay Range: $71,250.00 - $95,000.00
