Position Summary
The Production Planner/Scheduler III is a senior planning role responsible for synchronizing production across PM1, PM2, the mill’s sheeters and winders, and the Shipping/Warehouse operation. This position ensures that machine schedules, finishing capacity, and outbound logistics remain aligned to meet customer delivery requirements while protecting mill throughput. Operating within the Shipping department, the Planner III serves as the central coordinator who balances grade sequencing, machine constraints, inventory levels, and trailer loading priorities to maintain stable, predictable flow from reel to shipment.
This position Manages the railcar traffic for the mill and process the by-products shipping. Assist Shipping Manager and planners.
JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Coordinate with the on-site rail switching crew.
- Help coordinate with maintenance to the mill rail tracks.
- Process payments for all rail freight bills and track demurrage.
- Monitor chemical railcar inventory, work with purchasing as needed.
- Coordinate boxcar inventory to ensure application of FIFO and reduce demurrage costs.
- Manage by-product truck and railcar shipments including tall oil and turpentine.
- Manage daily commodity shipments in the Materials Management database.
- Manage daily boxcar billing using Access NS
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
- High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- SAP production and purchasing experience preferred.
- 5-7 years customer service and/or production scheduling preferred.
- Access NS and Cedar AI experience a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office required, especially Excel.
Physical Demands:
- The ability to sit and stand for long periods of time
- The ability to look at a computer screens for long periods of time
- The ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- The ability to work a varied of shifts from regular, evening and weekend work, shift work, working outdoors, and working with challenging clients
