Directs and controls the activities of the Maintenance and Engineering function to ensure that all production and support equipment is maintained at levels which are as efficient and reliable as possible.  Ensures that the facility itself is maintained and is a safe work environment. Manage plant-wide maintenance and capital program maximizing asset reliability, uptime, and cost effectiveness with available resources. 

JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Conduct safety audits, attend safety meetings, complete corrective actions, safety training.
  • Contractor relations – Sheet metal, HVAC, Machine Shop, Roofing, Gearboxes, Cassette Cylinders.
  • RCM Preventative Maintenance Planning – Schedule equipment for PM, planning PM labor and work orders, supervise on PM days.
  • Manage Capital Projects
  • Manage Maintenance Employees – Schedules, vacations, payroll, workflow, overtime.
  • Six Sigma / CI /RCM – Work closely with CI Manager on projects, press improvements.
  • Manage Storeroom.
  • Provides long-range planning for the facility and equipment needs including capital and major repairs.
  • Develops, implements and oversees predictive, preventative and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Uses other maintenance disciplines in the development and application of reliability engineering, root-cause analysis and troubleshooting of equipment and processes.
  • Coaches and develops training plans for all maintenance technicians.
  • Supervises Maintenance Supervisor, Storeroom, and Planner functions.
  • Shares an obligation to protect and strengthen Graphic Packaging International’s good reputation in our relationships with customers, employees, suppliers, competitors, investors, and governmental agencies, and to act consistently with our core values: Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork
  • Follow all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods.
  • Report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures.
  • Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
  • Reporting of any customer complaints to persons responsible to enter into GPI’s Customer Complaint system for root cause analysis and appropriate corrective action taken.
  • Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
  • Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.
  • Develop, implement, improve and manage new and existing equipment predictive and preventive maintenance programs
  • Lead RCFE (Root Cause Failure Elimination) process to identify root cause and implement  corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Analyze downtime to identify chronic/sporadic failures and lead reliability improvement efforts.
  • Develop, implement and sustain reliability best practices to reduce unscheduled maintenance downtime and costs.
  • Assist in development and utilization of key reliability metrics to consistently measure performance.
  • Provide safety/health and environmental expertise to plant staff, including consulting with and providing guidance to all Site Department Managers.
  • Reviews all written safety programs at least annually for compliance with current OSHA/TOSHA regulations. Update written programs as needed.
  • Develop, track, analyze and communicate plant safety statistics and plant environmental reporting and statistics including but not limited to hazardous waste generator status, Title V air emissions, SARA 312 and 313 usage and reporting requirements, etc.
  • Develop and implement safety, health, and environmental programs to assure compliance with applicable federal, state and local regulations and in support of Graphic Packaging International’s (GPI) environmental and safety guidelines including but not limited to air permitting, hazardous and non-hazardous waste collection and disposal, NPDES and storm water management and minimum safety and health standards.

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS 5-10 years maintenance experience including:

    • Computer Maintenance Management Systems use and implementation (preferably SAP)
    • Planning and Scheduling
    • Lead Preventative/Predicative/Precision Maintenance
    • Central Stores Management
    • Reliability Engineering
    • Lead implementation of Maintenance Plans for Preventive Maintenance Routes
    • Track record of improving processes and goal achievement
    • Oral and written communication skills
    • BS degree from a 4 year institution in engineering or related skill
    • Skills to follow-up on assignments.
    • Reliability Engineering experience desirable.
    • Experience in electrical or mechanical maintenance of packaging converting equipment or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
    • Supervisory skills.
    • Organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
    • Must be technically competent in one or more field in order to effectively direct activities of maintenance employees.
    • Must be available at all times to address maintenance issues.
