Title: Operations Manager

Reports to: General Manager

Supervises: Supervisors, Department Leads, Union Employees

 

Responsibilities/Duties:

 

  • The Operations Manager is responsible for supervising the safe practices of the production department managers and supervisors and their relationship to the employees within their departments.
  • Must have the ability to perform all documentation within the production process.
  • Must be able to follow the production schedule to ensure products are available for shipment.
  • Must interact with vendors, contractors, law enforcement, fire department, and regulatory bodies as it pertains to the maintenance of the production facility and warehouse.
  • Ensures the facility grounds are kept neat and tidy.
  • Schedules repairs when needed for machinery, grounds, or buildings.
  • Must be able to effectively resolve conflict.
  • Must be respectful while being assertive
  • Must have basic technical knowledge of all equipment in order to know the capabilities and limitations
  • Must be able to measure and improve performance of departments.
  • Must be prepared to take disciplinary measures against employees when safety, quality, production, and other behavioral measures are not met.
  • Must perform/oversee the hiring of new production employees as needed and provide new hire training
  • Must communicate with managers and supervisors in order to facilitate a better working environment and to better control problems with safety, quality, production, and behavioral standards.
  • Must be familiar with the facility certifications as well as what is required to maintain the certifications.
  • Must be able to provide or redirect qualified individuals to cover in the absence of key position holders where safety and food safety programs must continually operate.
  • Must understand the workings of a job jacket and be able to provide assistance when necessary.
  • Oversees the preventative maintenance of machinery and assists with the scheduling of downtime.
  • The Operations Manager is responsible for carrying out any other management responsibilities as deemed necessary by the General Manager.

Required Experience

 

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3 - 5 years of supervisor experience in manufacturing required.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and project management skills.
