Title: Gluer Operator

Primary Function:
It is your responsibility, as the group leader of the crew, to stay busy and set an example for the others. It is your responsibility to delegate responsibilities to your crew and make sure everything is done by the end of the shift. The operator is responsible for having their crew follow correct procedures including line clearance and allergen copies.
1. To set up your assigned machine for that day, and operate the machine
2. Observe machine while it is running to make sure that it is running efficiently and with no problems.
3. Make sure the machine is running at optimum speed.
4. Make sure the maintenance of the machine has been done (oiling or greasing, belts, replace worn or broken parts, etc.)
5. Check cartons every 15 minutes. Check quality of boxes. Line up, glue bond, scores should be good
6. Flag areas of possible bad cartons.
7. If the machine cannot be run faster with another person, check with your department head for other duties, such as:
8. Help another operator on another machine.
9. Clean or repair glue pots for other gluers.
10. Put parts for machine in parts cabinets or parts rack when not in use.
11. Make sure belts are reordered when replacing them.
12. Curl liners for corrugated if necessary.
13. Operator is responsible for production paperwork.
14. Relieve feeders and packers when they need a quick break
1. Area around machine and the machine must be kept clean and organized.
2. Help with tapers, getting corrugated to the back of the machine and taking off banding
3. Verify case count & pack on 1st pallet and last pallet to make sure packed cartons are consistent throughout the run sign off
4. It is your responsibility to let your department head know if parts or repairs are needed.
MISCELLANEOUS:
This Job Description is only a guideline, you may be asked to do other functions as needed. Due to workload changes in each department, you may also be asked to help out in other areas and/or departments from time to time.
Hazardous Waste Responsibility:
1. Maintain all containers on and around work area
a. Labeled correctly
b. Closed lids on containers when not in use
c. Dispose of aerosol cans properly
d. Mark drums if used for waste as “trash”
e. Label containers used for recycling plastic
