Job Description for Padlocker Operator

 

  1. Safety: The Padlocker Operator is responsible for the safety of himself, will follow all safety rules, and wear all required PPE.

 

  1. General Duties:
  2. Must have the ability to do all paperwork necessary for the job.
  3. Must have knowledge of workings of the automatic case sealer.
  4. Must have legible handwriting.
  5. Must have basic math skills.
  6. Job is steppingstone to warehouse, shipping and receiving jobs.
  7. Must be in good physical condition. Job requires lifting and knowing proper lifting techniques.
  8. The operator will be prepared for new orders coming down the line by checking job jackets and pallet stack specification sheets. Pallet size, corner posts, labeling, stacking pattern, and pallet height are examples of information that must be retrieved from the job jackets and pallet specification sheets.
  9. The operator will make records of previously run jobs on pallet stack specification sheets.
  10. The operator makes sure each case is taped on top and bottom and stacks cases on pallets based on the stacking pattern on the pallet specifications sheet.
  11. Places sample cartons on finished loads for easy identification by shipping and the customer.
  12. Helps with stretch wrapping.
  13. Fills out load tags making sure they are neat and accurate. Three copies of the load tag are placed on the pallet outside the shrink-wrap. One copy is place in the box for the gluer operator.
  14. Helps label cases and make cases up when necessary.
  15. Checks quality of cartons periodically and notifies the Supervisor or Finishing Manager of problems.
  16. Checks pallet inventory and notifies Finishing Manager or Supervisor when more pallets are needed.
  17. Keeps area clean and leaves the area clean for the next shift.
  18. The Padlocker Operator is responsible for carrying out any other responsibilities the Finishing Manager or Supervisor may have.

 

 

 

 

 III. Education and Knowledge:

 

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

 

IV . Specific Skills:

 

  1. Required to go from inside to outside temperatures to obtain some raw materials.
  2. Required to be cautious in the operation of the power truck to prevent injury to fellow workers, materials, equipment, and buildings.
  3. Must be able to read and interpret job jackets.

 

  1. Schedule Demands:

 

Shifts: Follows mode schedule for plant, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm., 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm and 11:00 pm to 7:00 am. Expected to cover vacancy for absent peers and work overtime.

 

  1. Physical Demands:

 

  1. Work involves moving or lifting of equipment, materials, and tools. Must be able lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  2. Climbing catwalks, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or movement within confined areas.
  3. Work in buildings and areas of fluctuating temperature and weather.
  4. Standing for extended periods.
  5. Awkward and/or repetitive movements.
