Mission/Summary:

This position in the Foodservice Engineering group will support a team of technical resources to execute strategic and tactical projects in support of GPI’s overall goals in Innovation & Operational Excellence for the Foodservice business. The role is responsible for developing custom converting equipment and supporting sourcing of OEM equipment to manufacture paper cups & containers and plastic lids for the Foodservice division.  The Electrical Engineer will have responsibility for the design of custom converting equipment and will interface with other groups for sourcing, assembly, and commissioning. Additional responsibilities include providing engineering support for production equipment. The position is part of a world class engineering & technical team in the Foodservice Engineering & Product Development Center.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Provide engineering support and project management for capital projects and major repair projects.
  • Travel, including internationally as required (up to 30%).
  • Create, maintain and keep current documentation and electronic versions of all electrical and pneumatic schematics including panel layouts, PLC, HMI and Servo Drives programs.
  • Provide expertise in PLC Control Systems and Programming in the development and troubleshooting of Electrical and Automation Control Systems.
  • Design circuit and layout drawings of control and power panels in accordance with NEC and corporate standards
  • Coordinate with engineering and shop personnel on existing machine control modifications to robotic, electrical and pneumatic systems.
  • Assist shop personnel in checking or trouble shooting equipment as required.
  • Coordinate project installations with Maintenance and contractors.
  • Participate in the identification and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.

 


Required Skills

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering preferred; will consider candidates with an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering plus equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years industrial Electrical Engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated hands on technical capability.
  • Good communication skills; successfully delegates as needed.
  • Familiar with NEC Codes preferred but not required.
  • Electrical AutoCAD design experience required, Electrical SolidWorks experience a plus.
  • Proficient with Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, PLC, and HMI Programming. Experience with Bosch-Rexroth PLC and HMI Programming a plus.
  • Experience with programming variable frequency and servo motor systems.
  • Experience with SCADA systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial safety standards. 
  • Strong organizational skills; self-directed – takes initiative
  • Self-motivated; agile learner, continues to keep up with current electrical advances using new technologies.
  • Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project.
  • Ability to do wiring tasks.
