R&D Laboratory Technician I

Our R&D Laboratory Technicians works with the Product Development Manager in ...

Primary Responsibilities are, but not limited to the following.

  • Operate all laboratory equipment to perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of products.
  • Follow standardized test procedures (ANSI, ASTM).
  • Refine, improve and develop custom procedures for new products, equipment or processes.
  • Record detailed documentation of results in a standardized format including via notebook or computer.
  • Assist with the development and execution of Design of Experiments for new and existing product and process improvement initiatives.
  • Lead benchmarking efforts for competitor products.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations relative to assigned analytical work; maintain and assist others in maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
  • Maintain the Product Development sample inventory system.

Ideally the individual that would be a strong fit for this position would have some of the following knowledge/skills and abilities;

  • Demonstrated excellent written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with precise documentation and record keeping skills.
  • Microsoft Office Suite skills required. Excellent Excel skills preferred.
  • Understanding of statistical methodologies.
  • Well-organized workflow and deadline oriented.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.

Job Requirements:

  • General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules in special situations which may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends.
  • Up to 10% travel to manufacturing facilities, suppliers, and customers to include flying, driving, riding, or by rail.

Required Experience

High School Diploma/GED required. Associates Degree in STEM field preferred.

At least two years of professional work experience in an engineering or laboratory environment is preferred.

Essential Job Functions include the following:

  • Personal Protective Equipment Required: safety-toed footwear and safety glasses. Other PPE as required by function.
  • Other Physical Requirements:
    • Occasionally (1-10% of the time) lift up to 30 pounds
    • Frequently (34-66% of the time) standing, bending, walking
    • Occasionally (1-33% of the time) squatting, climbing, reaching above shoulder (up to 26”), reaching at waist or lower, pushing (up to forces of 15 pounds), pulling, carrying, kneeling, grasping (up to forces of 20 pounds), sitting, and use of hands/fingers
    • Will not be twisting, stretching, crawling or crouching
