Title: Senior Manager Tool Design Engineer

This position in the Foodservice Engineering group will lead the paper cup and paper lid tooling design and fabrication team in support of GPI’s overall goals in Innovation & Operational Excellence for the Foodservice business. The role is responsible for developing custom tooling solutions as well as supporting the sourcing of tooling from original equipment manufacturers. The Sr. Manager, Engineering (Tooling & Machinery) will interface with other groups for sourcing, assembly and commissioning new tool sets. Responsibilities include providing engineering support, standardization and process improvement for production equipment. The position is part of a world class engineering & technical team in the Foodservice Engineering & Product Development Center and will report to the Director, Operations Excellence
JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.
Managerial
- Provide team and technical leadership within the Mechanical Engineering team in the area of tooling design and fabrication.
- Facilitate, encourage, promote, and engage in teamwork activities.
Technical
- Concept-to-completion engineering and design of new paper cup and paper lid designs through to final tool sets and finished paper products
- Create performance specifications for in house tooling and tooling sourced from original equipment manufacturers
- Maintain best practices in engineering design for all tooling
- Coordinate sourcing, fabrication, and assembly of tooling with internal and external resources to meet project deliverables
- Develop and maintain detailed knowhow of the technical landscape for paper cup and paper lid tooling
Managing Though Systems
- Execute projects using Project Management tools and activities interfacing with other functions in a matrix organization
- Support tooling installation and startup by working with the technical assembly team in Menomonee Falls and Foodservice Business Manufacturing Facilities
- Provide tooling related operational support to Foodservice Business plants to meet operational excellence goals
SCHEDULE DEMANDS:
- General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
- Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours.
- Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
- Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
- Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.

Required Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering Required
- Extensive CAD skills, SolidWorks preferred
- Must have demonstrated oral and written communication and organizational skills
- Must be able to work in a professional team environment
Required Experience
- 10 years relevant experience in equipment paper cup and paper lid tooling design; preferably high speed/precision equipment
- Demonstrated experience in design of paperboard converting equipment preferred
- Demonstrated experience with design for manufacturability (DFM and design for assembly (DFA)
- Project management experience with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects
- Experience working in a matrix environment
