JOB SUMMARY:   Effectively support the growing Graphic Packaging International Foodservice Business’s maintenance, fabrication and rebuild center activities that support the Division’s plant operations while working in a safe manner and obeying all safety and conduct rules.  This position is for 1st shift.   Travel up to 50% of time to domestic GPI production facilities may be required.

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Support Mechanical / Electrical technicians in the assembly and or rebuilding of paper converting equipment that is used in the manufacturing facilities for the manufacturing of paper cups and corrugated boxes. This will include:
  • Disassembly, Cleaning, repairing machine components as directed.
  • Painting of all New or Rebuild equipment. Automotive type spray equipment.
  • Perform Facility Safety inspections and track as directed.
  • Perform General Building Maintenance duties such as cleaning, repairing facility electrical (lights, switches, ballasts), snow shoveling, painting etc.
  • Working independently and or as a team.
  • Travel to production plant locations to provide support for machine installation, machine repair and maintenance support. Overnight travel is required.
  • Participate in all Safety meetings and required Safety walk thru assessments.
  • Has working knowledge of machine shop equipment and the ability to repair, machine and fabricate parts as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS:

  • Manufacturing experience required.

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the paper converting industry or related field
  • Technical degree preferred

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Schedules are a M-F 8-hour Shift Schedule.  
  • Must be willing and able to work overtime and travel when necessary.

 

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work Devices: Hand tools, precision measuring equipment, wrenches, machining tools, welders, grinders, lathes, milling machine, surface grinder, drills, hoists, man lifts, fork lifts, power tools, parts washers, horizontal and vertical saws, sand and ice blasters, painting equipment.
    • Position is associated with pushing, pulling, climbing, reaching, stretching and working in tight positions.
    • Must have physical coordination to operate fork lift (to remove and replace extremely heavy parts.
    • Must have the physical ability and coordination to operate machinery (Lathe, Grinder, Drill Press, Handsaw, etc...,) used to make and repair parts.
    • Must have the physical ability and coordination to remove and replace parts from machinery. To be functional within position person should be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
    • Must have visual acuity at short distance to examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inside Conditions: Heat, humidity, working in tight areas, noise (from production machinery) and working with various oils, solvents and other related chemicals.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English. Must have working knowledge of basic mechanical fundamentals. Perform tasks per instructions. Work well without supervision when needed
  • Must have experience in identifying basic hand tools. Prior maintenance/electrical experience necessary. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years’ hands on experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair.
  • Machines, Tools, Equipment, Software:
    • Basic working knowledge of machine tools: drill presses, welders, grinders.
    • Basic computer skills
    • All types of machinery involved in the Foodservice / folding carton industry. Must have own tools needed to make mechanical and/or electrical repairs.
  • Must be flexible: Able to work overtime and Saturdays/Sundays when needed.
