The position will report directly to Maintenance Manager. Specific responsibilities include the continuous improvement of reliability systems including: MOPS, planning, work execution, managing through managers, providing input into and driving all strategic decisions that affect all maintenance functional areas of the facility and giving continuous input and direction to the mill wide budget development. The role also includes developing and execution of the Mill wide five-year reliability improvement and equipment maintenance strategy, development and successful execution of all outages and the annual mill outage.

This position serves as a point position for all support for maintenance system. The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities and qualifications:


JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.


  • Support daily and breakdown maintenance activities
  • Support for all maintenance systems after hours and on rotating weekend call duty.
  • Monitor maintenance systems reliability and process variability and take steps to eliminate any shortcomings.
  • Ensures prompt completion of RCFA’s and corrective actions
  • Tracks equipment related downtime, repetitive failure, and cause data to identify opportunities for improvement, and selling these opportunities to area stakeholders.
  • Provides functional direction and technical support to Reliability, Operations and Maintenance.
  • Improves utilization of predictive technologies to reduce unscheduled downtime.
  • Provides technical support of supervisors and craftsmen as needed.
  • Support work systems and master data improvement efforts such as PM development and storeroom inventory adjustment recommendations.
  • Develops and implements reliability and precision maintenance standards and procedures.
  • Supports Capital and Repair Projects
  • Champions the elements of safety and reliability with project engineering in all capital and repair projects.
  • Facility Plan Development – supports five (5) year repair plan development and provides input for capital planning. 
  • Electronic component diagnostics and troubleshooting skills including PLCs, VFD Drives, DCS systems and computer related controls and programming capabilities.




  • Ability to support the network and computer systems connected to automatic control systems
  • 3 years’ experience in an industrial maintenance organization. Paper industry experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with reliability centered maintenance
  • Experience in a heavy manufacturing environment
  • Experience and ability to read, interpret, and modify schematics for both power and control systems
  • Power systems experience: 13.8kV to 480V motor control centers, switchgear, transformers, DC Motors, relays, etc.
  • Thorough understanding of National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Must have good attention to details but be able to manage the big picture and have a “make the numbers” mentality.
  • Must be able to manage multiple, complex tasks and deal easily with pressure on a day in and day out basis.
  • Must be able to motivate, communicate and drive continuous improvement.
  • Critical thinker, with excellent analytical abilities.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Solid planning, scheduling, leadership, and administrative skills.



  • BS/BA degree in Computer Science or Engineering, related field, or equivalent manufacturing experience; preferably Electrical Engineering



  • General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so. Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.



  • Sitting or standing for extended periods up to 8-hours.
  • Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.



  • Excellent troubleshooting/problem solving techniques
  • Driven towards continuous improvement in process and control system reliability
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to provide technical guidance to less experienced personnel
  • Technical learning / Learning on the fly – technically agile with a desire to learn new skills
