Inspired Packaging. A World of Difference




Interns provide technical support for the Engineering, Maintenance, CI/Technical and Operations. Interns typically rotate between departments over several sessions in order to generate a broad foundation of Paper Mill knowledge. Develop and implement best practices to improve safety, quality, productivity and cost reduction. Evaluate and support process changes. Lead one or more projects. The internship program functions to provide practical experiential application of the Engineering discipline, build experience and confidence in preparation of full-time careers in Papermaking, and to generate a pipeline of talent to fill future vacancies within the Graphic Packaging Mill Division.


Internship Start Date: May 2020 or sooner

Internship Completion Date: August 2020

* Interns are expected to work 40 hours per week during the Internship Period.

* Interns deliver a Capstone Presentation to the Management Team at the conclusion of their internship to highlight what they learned and accomplished during their internship.



Mechanical Reliability/ Project Engineer Intern

  • Institute visual tools on field instrumentation to provide visible identification of desired operating ranges                          
  • Investigate and specify basic care system for Power House to facilitate the point of problem detection transition to the operator    
  • Develop preventative maintenance procedures to reduce unplanned downtime and generate higher availability                          
  • Audit existing and develop new BOMs as required to improve planning, scheduling, and repair processes
  • Specify and manage maintenance and capital projects to ensure cost effective resource to management
  • Intern should have a STEM related major, preferably mechanical or electrical engineering. This program will enhance their educational experience by providing them real world experience with manufacturing processes, equipment, maintenance processes, and project management.


Continuous Improvement /Quality/Safety Engineering Intern

  • Track and Analyze Odor Testing Metrics to ensure adherence with customer specifications and process control
  • Audit LOTO Procedures and update as required
  • Audit LOTO Authorized Persons to ensure safe practices and adherence to protocol
  • Chemical Testing
  • Annual Environment Reporting to ensure EPA Compliance
  • Evaluate Voice of Customer Reports
  • Write and Update Safety SOPs to ensure compliance with OSHA
  • Intern with Learn EPA and OSHA Regulations and Product Stewart Guidelines

  • Pursuing Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical, or Pulp & Paper Science preferred. Will consider other engineering discipline
