The Printing Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of printing operations in a food-grade packaging facility, ensuring productivity targets are met through effective maintenance and people management.

Key Activities:
Activity A: Technical Operations and Print Process Management
- Oversee daily operations of printing Press, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety compliance is met.
- Ensure effective problem solving and corrective actions are implemented.
- Manage print/plate approvals, print trials, and print quality.
- Responsible for ensuring equipment is maintained to manufacturers specifications.
- Ensure equipment is performing at targeted speeds.
- Maintain compliance with industry, and customer-specific print standards.
- Track KPI metrics, waste, speeds, make readies, etc. and drive areas for improvement.
- Drive project and action item PDCA’s to keep tasks, actions, due dates and responsibilities organized and completed on time and on budget.
- 5S area to ensure a safe, organized and productive work environment.
- Manage the print plate, docket verification, plate cleaning and plate return process.
- Manage all inputs to production and ensure stock levels are maintained.
Activity B: People Management and Training
- Provide day-to-day supervision, coaching, and technical directions to unionized departmental employees.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to all plant safety policies and procedures.
- Support cross-training and certification programs to ensure operational flexibility.
- Recruitment and onboarding of employees new to the Printing department
- Manage employee training and certification program.
Activity C: Quality Control and Continuous Improvement
- Monitor print quality and conduct root cause analysis for defects or non-conformances.
- Implement corrective actions and maintain documentation of improvements.
- Standardize SOPs, quality checklists, production boards, and visual controls across printing operations.
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Partner with suppliers to resolve material-related issues and drive innovation.
Minimum Qualifications (Education):
- 5-7+ years related work experience in a printing management or supervisory role within a printing facility.
- Lean Six Sigma or TMP knowledge would be beneficial.
- Maintenance Background would be beneficial.
- Diploma or degree in Printing Technology, Graphic Communications, or related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of printing systems, ink systems, and substrates.
- Working knowledge of GMP, SQF, HCCP and printing standards.
- Proficiency in press troubleshooting, print quality control, and process improvement.
