The following is a list of specific duties which are considered the essential functions of this job.  The list is not exhaustive, as all positions at the company are dynamic.  The employee who occupies this position is expected to assume any/all duties assigned by management irrespective of whether such duties are specifically included in this list.

  • On call 24/7 for pending New Jobs, Customer Approvals, MeasureColor and BST Spectral System issues, and information related issues with job jacket and SAP job information.
  • Have background in prepress graphics and/or printing and understand Color and how to set color on a press.
  • Checks with night shift on color issues unless called in through the night for color approvals or measure color issues.
  • Regularly checks colors on all presses to make sure all presses are running within required specs and packages have acceptable visual matches to our color targets.
  • Works with the Concord Graphics Group to solve any ink number or color discrepancies in SAP, MeasureColor, and the Ink Company.
  • Has working knowledge of ColorMap SAP color catalogue and can pull colors down as needed.
  • Verifies Run Schedule on presses to make sure Job Jackets match the Run Schedule.
  • Gathers all used Job Jackets used throughout the day and night shifts and checks the Run Schedule to see whether any jobs have been changed or moved to accommodate the Run Schedule.
  • Maintains filing system for Color Standards; Customer Approved GMG Proofs and other proofs; Color Swatch Books; and other pertinent materials for records.
  • Cuts up color samples and makes Color Standard Books.
  • Checks Fed Ex drop points for any deliveries for our departments looking for Color Swatches and GMG’s from Concord, Separators, or Customers etc.
  • Verifies and logs GMG’s into our system. Labels and places the GMG’s into the standardized numerically ordered filing system.
  • Puts Printing Job Jackets together following Job Jacket Assembly SOP which includes verifying that Customer Part Number and SAP GRN/GDD numbers match to schedule, SAP, and approved copy.
  • Checks for New/Re-run jobs, printing out Low Res Full Layout PDF representation, Bev Spec sheets, and color bar PDF for each job listed on the Run Schedule, making sure they have a color target to match being either the GMG, Color Swatches, Eagle Book, or Color Standard Book in every job jacket posted.
  • Prints out die vinyl for each die for Tresu 1 & 2 to be used to check fit to die for print to cut alignment and bleed. Die vinyl is verified to die for print side and lead edge.
  • After the morning schedule is posted, checks schedule against published job jackets and insures all needed materials for day is on presses.
  • Follows up with Flint Ink daily to check color swatches and discuss any upcoming issues with new jobs.
  • Acts as liaison between printing and ink company to help solve printing issues around ink problems.
  • Trains others, as required, and assists with Log-On, ID’s, and procedures for MeasureColor, X-Rite, and BST Spectral systems.
  • Cuts samples for sample program and ship out samples to customers.
  • Repeats Job Jacket steps for Afternoon Run Schedule, which is subject to change based on customer demands.
  • Mails samples via FedEx.
  • Works with Flint Ink and Customer on press approvals for new graphics with or without customer and/or virtually with customer.
  • Prepares Job Jackets for Finishing Department as required.

  • Must be able to make decisions around matching to Customer Approved Proof and color swatches to printed piece and either approve or pull job based on best decision.
  • Must have exhibit professionalism when dealing with customers for on-site color approvals and with directing ink companies and press crew to make necessary adjustments for best possible match
