The Services Manager is responsible for strategic management and tactical coordination of all plant level customer service and production control functions. This is a key position within the plant site leadership team reporting directly to the Plant Manager. The Services Manager provides a critical point of contact for both external customers and operations management and is tasked with leading the organization in the balanced delivery of exceptional customer service and the efficient control of manufacturing.

 

The Services Manager is a skilled leader capable of providing direction to a team of employees consistent with GPI Core Values, ensuring team compliance with all GPI standard work practices and processes. The Services Manager promotes an environment dedicated to exceeding customer expectations while at the same time fully aligned with GPI business, financial and operational objectives.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Effective leadership of both the customer service and production control teams ensuring high levels of coordination between the functions.
  • Strategic and tactical management of production scheduling for a manufacturing site, ensuring appropriate levels of raw material inventory are available to meet production schedules on-time.
  • Partner with site leadership team to ensure product quality standards are met or exceeded.
  • Train, develop, and evaluate customer service and production control teams using GPI performance management process.
  • Monitor and manage the workload for the local team of employees.
  • Manage responsiveness and relationships with all internal and external customers.
  • Ensure compliance with all Company policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Oversee the timely arrival of all raw materials and graphics, and schedule production at the New Albany, IN converting facility.
  • Monitor the production processes and adjust schedules as needed.
  • Coordinate and manage the work-in-process and finished goods inventories through the NAV system.
  • Maintain positive relationships between Customer Service, Operations Mgt., Sales, Suppliers, and the Customer.
  • Manage the price estimating process on current and new business opportunities
  • Facilitate the on-boarding of new business and/or business transfers
  • Initiate/lead projects that improve customer satisfaction and/or reduce manufacturing costs.
  • Origination of daily manufacturing production schedule, by machine, process, and department, to
    • meet sales forecasts or customer orders.
    • ensure that orders are scheduled on the machine most capable and qualified to run the order efficiently and with the best quality.
    • maximize throughput opportunities by die cut; and
    • maximize average daily order quantity.
  • Adjust production schedule as necessary to allow for scheduled and unscheduled downtime.
  • Use JIT strategies to minimize work in process (“WIP”) inventories.
  • Review and communicate production commitments to Shipping Department to meet customer needs.
  • Monitor inventory of raw materials and serve as a liaison to Purchasing to ensure raw materials are ordered and delivered to the facility in a timely manner.

 


Required Skills

  • Strong level of understanding and experience using ERP business applications, to include NAV & SAP. (preferable)
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience and/or certification in Lean Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen and value stream mapping.

Required Experience

  • 10 years of progressive production control and/or customer service management experience.
  • 5 years of proven experience effectively leading diverse teams to exceed goals.
