Under direction of the Plant Controller, the Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for ensuring compliance of the purchasing function of the two New Albany sites. Key customers are outside vendors, the Plant Controller, Plant Manager, supply chain, and plant leadership team, as well as various division and corporate accounting functions. Tasks will include plant purchasing and record keeping for all purchasing activities, oversight and management of all sources of supply, pricing information and auditing activities. Works closely with the plant production and maintenance teams to ensure adequate support for operational needs.

 

Job Functions:

  • Manage procurement activities for all materials, supplies and services required by various departments in the most economical and efficient manner consistent with corporate guidelines
  • Consolidate purchases of like or common items to obtain maximum economic benefits
  • Ensure purchasing and related functions are carried out in accordance with Division/Company policies, procedures, internal audit controls as well as legal and ethical requirements
  • Support Corporate Supply Chain initiatives
  • Maintain list of vendors and suppliers to support plant operational needs
  • Manage new vendor setup
  • Ensure vendors insurance coverage is on file and up to date
  • Work with Plant Controller on proper GL & cost center recording
  • Available as needed to prepare and processes purchase orders when requested

Daily monitoring of invoices in workflow for price and quantity discrepancies while working with vendors/requisitioners/receivers as needed to resolve discrepancies


Required Skills

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent work experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office – Excel specifically
  • Self-motivated with ability to multi-task
  • Good organization with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

 

Required Experience:

  • 1-2 years purchasing/buying experience
  • Experience with ERP system (SAP, Microsoft Dynamics/Navision preferred)
  • Manufacturing experience preferred
  • Experience in Accounting preferred

 

Schedule Requirements:

  • Ability to work 8 hours/day, Monday – Friday, plus overtime as required
  • Must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally which may include early mornings, night, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so
  • Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8 hours
  • Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices
  • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment
