Represent GPI completely and successfully in all interactions with the customer(s).Initiates and maintains long-term relationships with various functional groups at their specific account.  Work from company policies and objectives to lead associates in a focused way to serve customers satisfactorily and profitably.  The ability to work with very little guidance and/or direction is essential.

Job Functions

Represents the company’s products and services to industrial packaging users. Responsible for developing sales territory by identifying and selling new accounts as well as existing customers. Works under minimal supervision.

  • Calls on customers and potential customers in a sales capacity to identify packaging related needs.
  • Works with support groups to develop solutions to the identified needs.
  • Develops and implements solutions with customers. Support groups include sales and marketing management, R&D, plant technical operations management and staff, and senior management.
  • Develops relationships with customers that position GPC as the favored supplier early in the customer’ s planning cycle.
  • Works with GPC technical and marketing groups to expand market and product knowledge as well as GPC capabilities.
  • Works with customer service to identify customer needs and satisfy administrative requirements in the management of assigned accounts.
  • Maintains ultimate responsibility for assigned accounts regarding communication interface between the customer and the manufacturing facility.
  • Prepares and submits required sales reports on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
  • Develops sales presentations for presentation to management and customers.

Required Skills


  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Ability to coordinate and facilitate projects
  • Experience in prospecting/lead generation
  • History of New Business Development and Sales Success
  • Research skills via internet, interview, etc.
  • Ability to manipulate estimates / internal documents to customer correspondence
  • Ability to juggle multiple situations with quick responsiveness on multiple fronts
  • Able to deal with pressure situations
  • Familiarity with QMS principles
  • “Engineering” mindset
  • Proficiency in Office Suite including spreadsheet manipulation
  • Eager to learn new things


Required Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 3 years’ experience in a folding carton business or manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be computer literate and possess good organizational skills.
  • Converting process knowledge/materials desired.
  • Must have strong knowledge in sales process/plant administrative/order entry procedures. 
  • Basic knowledge in cost/account principles required
