Establish best practices for the folding carton industry and bring the Graphic Packaging US plants in line with the Graphic Packaging European plants to insure performances and standards are maintained. Assess and audit cutting and finishing assets and operational workforce in terms of process capabilities, crew knowledge, skill, and experience levels and productivity levels, including operation practices, procedures, supporting processes. Develop and deliver customized training on-site and/or off-site, based on the assessments, to all stakeholders in the cutting process (operators, shift supervisors, operations, quality/continuous improvement (CI) resources), as needed and appropriate. Coordinate the development and implementation of written best practices documentation and standard operating procedures in alignment with training and educational objectives. Identify areas for improvement and apply continuous improvement concepts and techniques to increase equipment productivity. Participate and lead process improvement and cost reduction initiatives as assigned. Conduct expert troubleshooting to resolve equipment performance issues related to quality, speed, waste and downtime and recommend/implement solutions to sustain improved performance. Provide expert technical and process knowledge during the installation and start-up of new or redeployed cutting, gluing/finishing assets. As a cutting, gluing/finishing expert, partner with converting operations team to support new business opportunities and product development projects. Introduce best practice on and with the utilization of Ei3 the Bobst Mobile Portal for GPI Remote Monitoring of the fleet of machines (cutters and finishing equipment) across twenty-five (25) sheet fed plants with approximately 160 die cutting machines in production. Assist with the operator training at the new GPI Folding Carton Training Academy in Chicago, IL.


Required Skills

Requires Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 5 years of experience in cutting technologies in the packaging industry, including 3 years of experience with specialized cutting tools, Paperboard and Corrugated cardboard, Complete range in Box making, Print, Hotfoil (with EM-Debossing), Cutting with Em-Debossing, Halfcuts, Reward Halfcuts, round corner carton, trolling for Cut and Hotfoil stamping, Finishing (Gluing) 4, 6 corner gluing, and basket gluing. Employer will accept 7 years of experience in cutting technologies in the packaging industry, including 3 years of experience with specialized cutting tools, Paperboard and Corrugated cardboard, Complete range in Box making, Print, Hotfoil (with EM-Debossing), Cutting with Em-Debossing, Halfcuts, Reward Halfcuts, round corner carton, trolling for Cut and Hotfoil stamping, Finishing (Gluing) 4, 6 corner gluing, and basket gluing in lieu of Bachelors and 5 years of the above-listed experience.
