The Press Operator is responsible for the safe operation of the press while meeting the standards in quality and productivity. The Operator serves as a leader in the department.

 

All members of the press department are expected to work as a team to ensure standards are met in safety, quality, and productivity.

 

·         Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs)/Sanitation policies and procedures. Employee must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of SQF/5S and other company standards.

·         Demonstrate commitment to safety and perform job duties in accordance with our policies and procedures

·         Performs job duties in accordance with company safety rules

·         Responsible for set-up and maintenance of the press

·         Examine job order to determine quantity to be printed, stock specifications, colors, and special printing instructions

·         Applies packing sheet to blanket cylinders to build up blanket thickness to diameter of plate cylinder

·         Measures paper thickness and adjusts space between blanket and impression cylinder

·         Starts press, examines printed copy for ink density, position on paper and registration and makes computer adjustments to press throughout production run to maintain specific registration and color density

·         Makes adjustments to feeder and delivery mechanism

·         Removes and replaces worn rollers and adjusts pressure between rollers of press

·         Ensures company quality and production standards are met

·         Leads, gives direction to, and trains press crew

·         Completes end-of-shift reports and ensures accuracy of data entered into SAP

·         Ensures information is communicated between shifts

·         Performs all required maintenance of the press
