Graphic Packaging International, Inc., headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, is a leading provider of packaging solutions for a wide variety of products to food, beverage and other consumer products companies.  The Company is one of the largest producers of folding cartons and holds a leading market position in coated-unbleached Kraft board and coated-recycled board. One of its facilities is currently seeking a Production Scheduler/Planner - Coordinator.  The position is located at the Pacific, MO plant, which is part of the Large Format Sheet Fed Division producing sheet fed cartons.


Description:    This converting facility produces cartons for consumers as well as beverage for a variety of customers. This is a sheet-fed operation with approximately 200 employees.


Position Purpose: The primary responsibility of the Scheduler/Planner is to manage the plant scheduling, purchasing and raw material consumption and the analyzing of raw material levels, managing purchase orders, overall inventories, and aged inventory. The employee will need to have the ability to design, develop and maintain Packing Specifications based on customer requirements and die structures.  This position acts as a strategic business partner with Operations, Customer Service, Shipping and Receiving and Sales. Incumbents will maintain sufficient levels of raw materials used in the production process and be responsible for scheduling and optimum sequencing of materials and production for the Master Schedule.  In addition, the Scheduler/Planner schedules all aspects of manufacturing and machine time.  This role is also responsible for minimizing raw material and WIP inventory, set-up costs, unfavorable efficiency variances, and downtime relating to material availability.



Job Functions:

  • Responsible for physical scheduling of all machines and production activities for operating departments within facility.
  • Plan and order raw material from approved vendors to support the production schedules.
  • Responsible for monitoring raw materials and WIP inventory levels within established tolerances for items produced or purchased for the assigned operating department.
  • Monitors and adjusts production schedules based on operational performance, material availability, or changes to the Master Schedule.  Responsible for communicating all schedule changes to appropriate management and insuring raw materials, WIP inventory and tooling are available to support the change.
  • Coordinates the activities associated with expediting raw materials.
  • Participate in New Business and Transfer Business calls.
  • Managing Packaging Bill of Material for all items being produced.
  • Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs)/Sanitation policies and procedures.  Employee must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of SQF/5S and other company standards.
  • Must be supportive of GPI’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values (Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork).
  • Must be supportive and involved in GPI efforts for LEAN, 5S, Six Sigma and other Continuous Improvement programs and processes.
  • Strives to clearly understand customer requirements and delivers results to meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Required Skills


  • SAP Experience
  • Shop floor reporting systems (ERP), preferred
  • Access Data Base and TOPS program experience is a plus
  • Must be well-organized, able to work with minimum direct supervision, and prioritize multiple tasks to meet production schedules and system deadlines
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills & customer-service skills
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven leader with demonstrated results



  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
  • 5 years manufacturing experience in packaging or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of supply chain management preferred
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel
