This position is responsible for managing the plant-wide maintenance program to safely maximize uptime and minimize unplanned equipment downtime within annual maintenance budget allocation.  The position supports the organizational goal to implement a world-class reliability centered maintenance program.


JOB FUNCTIONS:  Job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Plant General:

  • Manages maintenance personnel to include shift maintenance specialists, maintenance leads, and preventative maintenance specialists.
  • Executes the components of the Performance Management System to include individual/area coaching, performance appraisals, identify training needs, new hire orientation and 30-60-90 day evaluations, develop and implement performance action plan for individual performing below the minimum expectation level.
  • Listen to department personnel concerns and respond appropriately and timely.
  • Assign and monitor maintenance resources to support plant preventative maintenance (PM) plan.
  • Assign and monitor maintenance resources to execute preventative maintenance (PM), safety work orders (SWO), general corrective maintenance, and emergency repairs.
  • Maintain plant infrastructure.
  • Lead major outage events to include planning and execution of the planned outage.
  • Responsible for the oversight of work performed by outside contractors to include the conformance to safe work practices.
  • Ensures company policies/procedures are enforced.
  • Ensures area is compliant with all safety policies/procedures.  Immediately addresses areas of nonconformance.
  • Ensures scheduled housekeeping audits are completed.
  • Communicates accomplishments of department to key stake holders.
  • Additional duties as assigned

 Support of Plant Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Plan:

  • Lead maintenance related Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) process.
  • Ensure the follow-up of corrective action (CA) as it relates to maintenance RCFA’s.
  • Supports weekly maintenance planning meeting and assigns resources to complete the weekly maintenance plan.

Support Plant Capital Plan:

  • Write and submit formal appropriation requests (AR’s) for proposed maintenance RR (repair/replace) capital projects.
  • Upon approval of maintenance appropriation requests (AR’s); complete projects within budget, as scheduled and within the scope of the project.
  • Provide periodic job status updates to include schedule, actual/projected spending.
  • Write capital requisitions (REQ’s).
  • Ensure safe startup of new equipment.

SAP key User:

  • Write work order (WO) notifications as required.
  • Prioritize & assign work orders (WO) via planned work, backlog work or emergency work order assignments.
  • Requisition materials, labor and equipment as required.
  • Perform goods receipts (GR’s) for completed work or received materials.
  • Ensure required spare parts are set up in storeroom per procedures.
  • Ensure parts are removed from storeroom per procedures

Required Skills

  • BS degree from a 4 year institution in engineering or related field preferred.
  • Strong computer skills required.
  • Excellent technical trouble shooting skills.
  • Good organization/project management skills.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required Experience

  •  7-10 years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Prefer candidate who has demonstrated a successful process improvement track record.
  • Experience in leading a maintenance team preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
