Title: Internship - Quality/CI/Operational Management

This position will focus implementing 5S practices and improving the effectiveness of quality practices within the department. This is a spring co-op starting 1/9/23 and may extend into summer with positive performance. Top performers will be recommended for the company's LDP program at the end of of the college tenure for long term permananet job placement.
Possible duties could include:

- Conducts audits on each piece of machinery in the printing, cutting and finishing departments using the quality assurance check list.
- Sets up quality checks daily and other tests on an as needed basis
- Pulls quality customer samples from production floor or plant daily.
- Makes Customer sample books when needed.
- Performs various office work, including filing and logging of information and statistics.
- Assist in writing standard operating procedures.
Possible Projects based on Intern’s Major / Area of Concentration:
- Performs full 5S analysis of the various departments.
- Study waste patterns and develop methods to reduce COV (cost of variance)
- Assist in the development of quality check analysis
- Perform a works study on various departments, analyzing efficiencies in current model
- Reviewing and pulling reporting tools analyzing the prior day/week/month efficiencies
- Reporting data to department managers on production actuals vs. goals
- Learning each stage of the production process in mechanics and reporting
Present to the department periodically and to senior leadership at the end of the internship

Required Skills
Requirements:
- High School Diploma, GED
- Currently working on associates, undergraduate, four-year degree or post graduae degree program
- Major in: Engineering, Business (management/marketing/supply chain management)
- Knowledgeable on the following subjects:
- Lean, Six Sigma, 5S
- Manufacturing
- Proficient with al Microsoft Programs, Outlook, and internet research skills
- Requires use of all general office equipment
- Proven track record of identifying opportunities and the ability to recommend and implement improvements
- Leader with exceptional communication skills, good organization, and the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and influence others
- Needs to be a self-starter, self-directed, and willingness to take action to move forward with ideas
- GPA in major greater or equal to 2.5
- Pass an alcohol/drug screen before each co-op session
